Just need a little advice, might be a little obvious, but just need it clarified.

The simple version of this question is: Does Pure Data run on a raspberry pi 2 running Raspian Jessie?

In the downloads page I can only see the Weezy download, which makes me assume this is the only version of Raspian it runs on.

The reason I ask is I'm having issues installing a touch screen in Weezy, and adafruit are telling me to run Jessie instead (this one: https://www.adafruit.com/products/2423). But the project I'm building has to run PD, so if I can't trouble shoot this I'll had to find different screens (noob at Pi's, not bad at PD, familiar with max/msp).

Pd vanilla runs fine on rpi 2 / jessie. Pd-extended might be another game (not tested - tcl/tk version deps)?

Thanks EEight, good to know Vanilla runs fine. I think extended would be useful, so if Whale-av is right, it might be the way to go.

Also, general question but if something is made for debian, does that mean that it 'might' run on raspbian? I'm new to both of these OS's, I understand their related, but not the same thing. I assume this where the issues start to arise?

No, I have not tried running it. Raspian Jessie on an rpi2 should be closer to a Debian release than was previously possible because the ARM architecture of the rpi2 is now 100% compatible with one of the Debian Jessie compilations. That means the Raspian Jessie should be almost identical to the ARM7 Debian Jessie, with (of course) all the rpi2 hardware packages added.
It seems that an 8Gb card is now necessary though, as if you want the whole package (mail, office etc.) it eats 5Gb.
Setting up the pi should be much easier too, as there is a control panel gui in Jessie.

It should be rather easy to install vanilla and then check all the available external libraries in the Jessie repositories.
Type apt-cache search "^pd-" in Pi's terminal and you'll get all the available external libraries (which are quite a few). The type sudo apt-get install pd-libraryname and it will be installed in your system. All you need to do after that is set the library's path in Pd's preferences (in the case of zexy and iemmatrix, I think you need to set them via a startup flag, e.g. -lib zexy in Pd's preferences...).

@whale-av - Yeah, I ordered 32GB cards as a just in case! But thanks for explaining the relationships to Debian a bit more for me, starting to make a bit more sense.

@EEight how does one install this compiled version for vanilla? i am very new to the rpi2 and so far i have only installed software via the terminal & sudo apt-get install... which is how i've got pd 46.2 so far... thanks x

@EEight ok, so if i want to start pd with a certain patch when my rpi2 boots...how can i do that?

cd - wherever that pd is - /bin
./pd -open filename.pd

but how do i send those commands at startup?

i'm asking you Eeight because you seem to know - but of course the rest of the world may well know as well x

You should do some research, there's plenty of rpi forum / community.

EEight's suggestion would definitely work on Raspbian Wheezy but I don't think it works on Jessie. On Jessie you can use crontab for what you want. In Pi's terminal type:
crontab -e
If it's the first time you're editing crontab you'll be asked to choose a text editor and you'll be prompted to choose nano since it's the simplest. choose the one you want and at the very end of the file write the following:
@reboot sleep 20; /usr/bin/pd along with the flags you want.

@EEight could you direct me to a resource that can help me compile/install this. i tried your method and miller's method in the install.txt and nothing works, i think i'm missing probably a really simple step.
