I updated my laptop to OSX 10.11 this morning & ever since I did, pD crashes every time I try to open it. Anyone know why this is happening? I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling pD but that didn't work.

Run pD Extended on OS X El Captian

@conorobeirne Hello,
All os's are becoming more invasive. Windows 10 has sticky fingers absolutely everywhere. If Pd will not start it is either incorrect audio settings (that could be your case if your audio card has disappeared or been renamed) in which case try starting pd from the terminal with the -noaudio flag......... or something has found it's way into your localhost file and is stopping Pd from communicating with it's gui......... http://puredata.info/docs/faq/Pd_not_launching........
Also try trashing your preferences for Pd. and check that the OS is not blocking Pd. as a dangerous non-Apple app that you have illegally downloaded!

@whale-av Hey thanks for getting back to me. A lot of audio programs seem to be having problems with the new OS update so it seems I now have to either wait for Apple to do fix it or hope pD miraculously gets updated.

Do you get the same with vanilla?
-
@alexandros hey, no I haven't tried vanilla. I could give it a shot though, I mainly use extended cause of the built in libraries
-
sorry for the late respone...
Download the deken-plugin from here https://github.com/pure-data/deken and install Pd-vanilla. With this plug-in you can find external from the Help menu and it will install them to your computer. So you can use the latest Pd with its new features (it's got some really nice ones) and easily install externals. It's got quite some externals in its repository (I think it's puredata.info...), and it's most probably the future of Pd, since extended is dead... -
Hey people, PD does not worked in my imac when I did the actualization to "el capitan". But after many, many searches, finally it works, I just follow the steps in this link http://osxdaily.com/2014/04/12/restore-original-hosts-file-mac/ And it works, i have Pd Again!!!!! ps: Sorry for my English, I am from Colombia and, just trying to learn. I hope it works for you too.

@alexandros
Hi there, I'm having issues with pd - extended and el capitan also. I am unfamiliar with using externals. The two main objects I need to use that are not included with pd-vanilla are autoscale and speedlim. Would I be able to use vanilla and find externals to replace these objects? I am rather a beginner with pd. I know enough to modify a pduino patch for use in my set up but when I get into trouble...I'm in trouble. I am trying to figure out why the fans run high on my MacBookPro running el capitan. I didn't have this problem with older OS. Any thoughts? Thanks. -
@saxdame [autoscale] is in the "hcs" library, and [speedlim] in the iemlib library. Go to Pd's website and install the latest vanilla (0.47-0) which comes with the deken-plugin installed. Go to Help -> Find externals and type "hcs" to get the hcs library, and "iemlib" to get the second one.
Then go to File -> Preferences -> Path..., hit "New" and navigate to the directories of the two new libraries. Click "Apply" and "OK" and restart Pd. The libraries should be there along with all their objects.No idea about your fans, don't have OS X anymore...

Thanks I'll give it a try.
