Big bäm Mr @whale-av - thx again and again!

Somehow the playbk/playbkr/playbkl don´t work anymore, when I replace the updated files.

I made the patch a little easier to test it´s functions:
    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/evbxyk93hnyroym/AACAsfgF8gb7Eo9nEcGaGAfFa?dl=0
Egotest1 is the older version without the updated files. Playbk works fine
EgoTest2 is the new version: - playbk doesn´t work

The console shows this error message:
    1025-float-1.wav-array: no such table
    1025-float.wav-array: no such object
(and so on for each file I want to record).

-this is what it should do:

    1. it´s playing back a wav
    2. it´s playing back the mic in
    3. making three recordings
    4. playing back the recordings on playbk/playbkl/playbkr
    5. playing back one recording multiple times with different pitches
    • i still didn´t manage to make the "choir" working, but is there any chance I could play back the choir recordings, each on a different/random panning?

I couldn´t find "goggins_pan~" neither as an external or in PD, nor even with google?! Could you maybe upload that extension for me?

...aaand do you maybe know someone who is into PD and living in Berlin!?

    Very best sunshine greetings

    Thanks again Mr Whale!

...finally it comes to the point where I can use the patch for an interactive performance!
(if you have time on wednesday and you are in berlin, please activate your invitation@ www.artsociety.io )

I still wonder how I can add the parameter to the writesf~ automatically to separate and archive the different recordings and then later combine all existing files to a choir.

Even more I wonder how I could "spread out" the different voices in space - in my patch, i use a simple L/R-stereopanning, but it doesn´t sound spacial at all - could you recommend me a binaural stereo panner and could i somehow randomize the settings for each different playbk, so that the voices are coming from different angles and maybe even depths... and dreaming big ...could i maybe even orbit those voices around the listener?

And last but not least i wonder: how can I best trigger the patch?! First I thought of sth like a BT- or USB-button that starts the patch, but maybe I can make it easier...and include sth like a HEY GOOGLE -speak command, or a specific knocking rhythm ?! Maybe you got an easy idiot-proof idea?!

Thanks a billion times for any advice!
    Bäm

    Hello,
after finally finding a solution to get a video-feed from my MacBookPro-iSight camera into PD (with the help of iGlasses) I struggle to find a proper way to record the Video.
I want to use a timer to record little snippets which I then want to mix together as one clip.

Also I´d like to use multiple usb-cameras.

    Thanks for your help

    Thanks David -
is there any news regarding GEM/Video-Recording that I am missing? ...as far as I understand I´d need to use Syphon? ...but can I automatize it with PD triggers? (like using the timer_set.pd to trigger record in Syphon for a time and then trigger a playback of that recorded file in PD?)

I´d be really interested if somebody managed to run GEM/PD on a Raspi ...and how! Could you maybe share your raspi-image? Still struggeling to get PD running :(

Well, this is getting closer to the idea:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/lnc4w4koftkk5zh/Om5.zip?dl=0

I still could not figure out, how i can playback different recorded samples using the same object at the same time.

Also, I would love to overdub all recorded Om-sounds in the end so that sth like a virtual choir is created.

Also the sound from the mic sounds not really good, I wonder if I am missing something?!

Bam! Here is the first test: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wy67kjiwtzjlst1/Om4.zip?dl=0

So far so good, but somehow it seems that I can only playback one playbk-object a t the same time?

And I have the feeling the voice sounds really weired/shit - any chance I can improve the quality somehow?
Also the latency really sucks - could an external soundcard/mic help to improve the situation?

And I still really wonder how I could time trigger the whole thing to stop and reset, because i can´t link the timer_set to the on-off switch. ?

    Ooomgreetings, B..

Woooow, thank you so much dear great Patchgod!
I managed to change it so that the two different pitches come from left and right... Om3.zip
...which leads me to the question if I could pan it somehow better/ more precisely/spacial? (sth I anyway would love to learn!)

But let´s say I record everyone making an Ohm - and don´t want the files each time to be deleted/overwritten by the next recording, to playback all those Ohms later together /overdubbed as a choir?!

Bäm! As soon I will have the installation ready, I will post the pd part! Very best wishes and as always thankyouthankyoutankyousooooomuch!!!

and regarding 2. (normalization) ...can I implement this in the recorders.pd, to automatically normalize the tracks to one norm? (and ?!? HOW?)

Oh, and now I realize the "reverse Tst2" object reads/pitchshifts only the recordings from the last session... how can I pipe the playbk through the pitchshift?

    Thank you so much.

    Ooompd.pd

Finally I managed to implement the reverb, but I am struggeling with the pitchshifting:

so It seems that i can substitute the playbk object simply with a timetriggered reverse-object, but it plays the files in loop. I tried to simply timetrigger the speed of the playback to 0 after the pitched sample is played back, but calculating the exact time the sample lasts after being pitched is not really precise... anyway, how i can play the pitched samples just one time? And how can I make it an Object like the playbk one - maybe calling one pitchLo and one pitchHi?
The change of the length of the pitched samples makes everything a little more complicated, but i just don´t see, how to connect the vocoder.

also I want to make use of an effect called Boomerang - where a delay of 283ms causes the brain to wait for your words to finish till you can go on speaking ... now i need to check how much latency my Macbook has, or if I change to another computer, who much the latency is there. is there a way to test this?
I found an option beside samplingrate in the audiopreferences, called Audioverzögerung (i guess that is latency) - it´s set to 20 - can I simply delete that? or make it smaller? or i simply substract this 20ms from the 283...

thanks again for all your help!

    Hello,
we are working on an interactive sound-installation. It is a wooden bell that opens vertically by sliding up it´s segments to make space for one person that sits down to listen to a guided meditation after the bell closes again. It´s all about the perception of one self and how it changes when one isolates from society and vision. The people will hear themselves over headphones and be instructed by a voice to make an "Ohm" and say several things that are secretly recorded and played back later in a way to expose the inner dialogue.
... using a timer*, I time-trigger recordings, playback of those, and sound-effects (reverberation, pitch-shift). In the end the participants will hear their own voice talking to them, but in two different pitches, one voice a little lower pitched talking as the inner-enemy and then a higher pitched voice commenting on this, creating a dialogue, giving the participants the chance to observe that theatre-play inside of their head.
To close the session, they will be asked to make another Ohm...and as background they will hear the recorded Ohm they made when they started plus the recorded and looped Ohms of all the participants who were under the bell before them (if possible, first one om...then the next joins and another...and then maybe fading it to three or more other Oms, before the whole choir joines the megaOm).

*! I want to modify this patch to use it´s timer, recorder and playback- features. The karaoke-text-display is not needed, cause everything will be instructed by a backgroud-voice (lostintro.wav).
To test the patch simply click on start, to open the patch right-click in the window, then open the object pd audio, where the recorders and playbk objects are hiding.

    1. I can´t find a pitch-shift object except one in an old RjDj library called e_pitchshift.pd, but I didn´t yet managed to make it work in the patch. Any suggestions of an object that shifts the pitch by two semitones up/down? ...also I wonder how to implement this to make the workflow as easy as possible, because there will be a lot of samples. I guess it is the easiest to include it in playbk.pd, and use two different ones, one with playing back the samples with a higher pitch and one with a lower pitch. (?)

    2. To combine and loop all recorded "ohms" into one file, i will need sth like a looper-object/patch, I am sure there are plenty out there. My biggest concern is, the different volumes of peoples voices, thats why I am wondering if there is a normalization-object?

    3. I once found a trigger for recordings in an RjDj patch (that I can´t find anymore), that checked the db of the incoming signal and only when detecting a sound it started to record - I was wondering if I could use it to control, if people really say/sing things and if not repeat the question (or give more time to record? ...maybe substitute that even with the timer-triggered recordings?)

    4. well, not really top priority, but I would love to make the whole patch run on a raspi. I already struggeled with the raspi for a while - who knows...maybe there is someone in Berlin who could help me to set this up during the next weeks?

    5. I want to timetrigger a change of the reverberation of the live-signal at the beginning ...the great @whale-av helped me once to optimize this patch (lostgeneration) and deactivated the reverb (found in the down-left corner of the pd audio -object) ..unfortunately I can´t figure out how to reactivate it. Where do i have to connect the "r revtime"? right to/between the "dac~" object???

    6. last but not least a little stupid question, but as i don´t even know the name of this "~" symbol it is hard to google. How to make the keyboardshortcut for this little ~er ? tired of having to copy paste it each time :) ?

Bämgreetings and thanks for any help or suggestion!

Hei brother whale ;) and all the others out there!

I want to adjust the program a bit and try to run it on a raspi to create some new magic. It will be part of an interactive installation where people will encounter their inner enemy and their inner clown... to expose the inner dialogue and give people the chance to observe themselves observing themselves... well I want to manipulate people to say certain things that I record and then create a dialogue with that samples using a deeper and a higher pitch... as this will be multiple recordings I am wondering about the easiest way, and I guess it is a recorder that already records with the pitch-effect over the audio... would be great if you could help me with an advice.

The other question I have, is a bit more complicated, but I am sure I will manage: to let the patch run on a Raspi and have sth external, like a button, or sensor activate the patch. Any threads/tutorials that you could recommend me?

Ok, so the problem seems to be: all recorder objects use the same abstraction (recorders.pd) but the first two recordings shouldn´t already trigger the karaoke - because I can´t deactivate the trigger for only one or two recorders without changing all, I simply changed the textfile and added one break to display a blank line for the first two triggers.

Wow - I see: a lot to understand - even more to learn! Thank you for the hints in the right direction - this is worth a lot!

For now, I somehow have to readjust the karaoke-text with the recorder-timings again ... I am thinking about solving this by linking the recorder-bangs with a send/recieve to the karaokeprompter - Actually I think I solved it already like this with a "r karao"-object, but i can´t figure out anymore where the "s karao"-object is hiding - I found a search-function within PD, but I still can´t find it.
...Other solution would be a list for the timer with the same times as the recorder-start-times,
linked with the karaoke-next-text-button "textfile" , right?

the new recorder/player object is really helpful! Greatgreatgreat!

The idea to become able to send audio to/recordings to multiple devices let´s me shiver from all the possibilities to make my wildest dreams come true.
