been away for awhile, both from this list and from PD, but recently got a little asus netbook and installed eeebuntu base 3.0 and upgraded to karmic 9.10.
I notice that one can easily install Pd vanilla through the system itself, and I've been using Pd long enough to know which libraries I need and which I don't. So my question is which is a better choice for an inexperienced linux user, install vanilla and add the libraries I use often and need, or install a version of extended, and if that's the case, which version is best for karmic 9.10? Thanks.db

hi,
I'm assuming this will be something obvious that I am just not seeing, but the attached patch is a simple osc player for 3 speakers where I want to decrease the vol at each pulse over a course of time. I want the counter to decrease the level by .01 each pulse...
works fine manually (just bang " [dec ( " to see this in action), but when the patch is activated by the start bang in upper left the counter does not count at a .01 interval, but instead seems to double this increment each time..am I missing something?thanks so much for applying another brain/eye combo to this one..

has anyone used this attached object?
I don't know where I found it..
but it doesn't seem to work for me. seems that it doesn't create the matrix~ object at it's core. saw some posts about multiple objects from different libraries using a matrix~...thanks..
db
correction:
it does create the matrix~ object.....so what's up? anyone ever use this? is there a matrix mixer that some one has implemented? i've been looking around to no avail.. -

hi list,
I am having trouble editing the search paths on extended .40.3 on OS X 10.4.9..
I don't recall this ever happening before, but I can't edit the path to point to different libraries, basically cannot access the contents of Pd.app when prompted. Anyone have this problem?thanks,
db
edit:
so my main problem is that I cannot load GEM, reason: image not found...
when I add other libraries to the startup, they load fine, and the path is changed, however, GEM will not load via this method, any ideas?
in the contents of Pd->rescources->extras---- there is a GEM.pd.darwin file, should this be placed somewhere else? -

I am trying to make a selection object for 12 outputs where only two are active at a given time. I have noticed that [dac~] does not take set messages, so what are some ideas for dealing with this?
right now I am using 12 [dac~] and 12 corresponding [*~] with 1's or 0's in the right inlet...to elaborate:
a sample is selected and then bangs a generator that selects two numbers between 1 and 12 thus enabling those two outputs for that sample, so....when the next sample comes around, and another set of numbers is randomly chosen (via xrandom so nothing repeats) which activate a new pair of outputs and disables the previous pair.
my problem is turning off the previous pair, so that only 2 outputs remain active at any given time.thanks for any ideas or suggestions...

hello,
I am not a programmer and have been having trouble installing objects, and my searching this forum and the list haven't yielded clear results. I am on .39.3 and an intel mac. found space~ and wanted to install it, but where do I put the darwin file? I tried putting it in the Pd application plug-in zone to no avail. Is there another step to compiling externals like this? I attached what I downloaded..db

hello,
someone posted this patch some time ago in response to a query I had about overdubbing. It's a very clever solution to the problem and it works for my needs, but I consisently hear a click when the sample repeats, and this point slides slowly out of phase over time (i am doing really long samples with this, like 90 seconds overdubbing for an hour). Is there something in the arguments of [threshold~] that will address this? Or is there something I can add to this patch to address that? Thanks to anyone who takes a moment to look it over...it is set as a 5 sec sample now, just bang it at the top to start the cycle..thanks again,

hello, can someone please help me with this attached fragment of a patch..
I am building an abstraction that contains a segment where there buffer size needs to be changed before a process begins, but I am having trouble changing the size AND changing the array (inputing the $0-table..) I can do one or the other, but not both as I need to. I hope this makes sense.thanks,

hello,
How does one store information (audio) in arrays and have it pre-loaded each time the patch loads? Right now I am using:[loadbang]
|
[read -resize blah labh blah array(
|
[soundfiler]which works, but is there a cleaner way? When I use "save contents" it doesn't save for the next opening of the patch.
thanks,

hello,
I find many useful patches that are in text format, I read somewhere that you can just change the extension to .pd and it will open as a patch. However, when I try this I get errors:#X no such object..
I am on .39.3 extended intel mac.
would greatly appreciate any advice. I searched around this forum and on the pd list to no avail.
thanks
