Hi/low cut
Unless one of the more knowledgeable members round here knows, you should take a look at FFTease for Pd - it's a bit easier to operate than bare bones Pd fft. I'm pretty sure theres an object for this

FFT broken in 0.39.3-extended-rc5
Here you go - follow the link at the bottom of this post:
FFTease in Pd-Extended
Hello,
you can download the FFTease collection for your PD system from
http://www.sarc.qub.ac.uk/~elyon/LyonSoftware/MaxMSP/FFTease/
Don't know why it's not included in the extended distribution anyway...
Let me know if you have troubes with the installation.
Best,
Alberto
FFTease in Pd-Extended
Well I've updated the WinXP registry with pd-settings.reg, but now when I start Pd it complains it can't load the fftease, hid, pdp, pidip or xsample libraries. Where should all these libraries be, anyway? I can't see a folder for FFTease anywhere in Pd's folder. Shouldn't there be one?
Hardware inputs - ideas?? :-)

This is a really nice controller:

I respect the Wii stuff people have been doing with Max, it looks great and possibly useful gesturally, it just seems a bit lame/impenetrable performance-wise imho.
After seeing Bjork use this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReacTable on various things over the past few weeks, I'm doing some heavy hankering! Quite an interesting open source cousin -> http://macrone.de/multitouch/ any ideas on a Gem + Projector loop that could give similar results?
edit: hang on a minute, I should have read the rest of the forum first!

Problems with using pd and reactivision
Hi, I hope someone could help me a bit.
I try to use the angle of one fiducial marker to shift between several music samples, but I need to play them from the start once I change to another sample. Right now the problem is the reactivision client is sending the fiducial information everytime, and I link the "bang", which controls the "play" in tabplay~, so the sample could not be played even more than one second.
I am sorry that I might not present the problem clearly, it's just so difficult to express. But I'd like to know, how I could achieve the following thing in Pd.
"If a number does not change, then do nothing, if it changes to another, then send the new number. "

Externals not found...
I know this topic has been raised a number of times before, but i still can't get externals to be loaded. I've downloaded the LyonPotPourry port for Win32.
I've created a folder in the pd "extra" folder and copied all the dll's there. Then in pd (0.38.4) i've set things in the STartUp options and verified with regedit that everything was ok. This seemed to be the case.
I don't get it some seem to load (gem, pmpd, vasp, xsample objects) others don't (fftease, potpourry, pdp, pidip,...)
What's going on?
D.
Installing pd 0.38 in windows?
Hi Charles,
yes, it's probably your firewall that blocks pd... just give permission to run it
(my firewall on win - zone alarm - just asks me at the first installation, then
you can set a rule to let it run pd.exe always...)
@ yorken:
"GEM: Graphics Environment for Multimedia
GEM: ver: 0.90
GEM: compiled: Aug 3 2004
GEM: maintained by IOhannes m zmoelnig
GEM: Authors : Mark Danks (original version on irix/windows)
GEM: Chris Clepper (macOS-X)
GEM: Daniel Heckenberg (windows)
GEM: James Tittle (macOS-X)
GEM: IOhannes m zmoelnig (linux/windows)
that's ok.. now you have GEM runnning, an astonishing 3D open-GL
environment at your commands
fftease: can't load library
hid: can't load library
this is not ok
It means that probably you have set those entries
in File->Startup but the libraries (.dll files with the same name) are not
reachable by the program.. Try to find these .dll on your pd folder
(look for fftease.dll) and if you find them just add the path to the
File->Path ...
for pmpd, VASP, xsample etc. it seems ok...
pdp and pidip are graphical extensions to PD
that, if I'm not wrong, work only on Linux (maybe Mac...)
so don't worry about them.
cheers,
Alberto
MP3 control through reacTiVision
I posted the following in the reacTiVision forum and someone toldme the next quote.
"This is about reacTiVision.
Is the following possible:
I use Traktor (DJ software) and I want to be able to setup a fiducial to represent a deck in Traktor. I would like to have a center in the reacTable and then the distance of the fiducial from the center will control the volume and the orientation of the fiducial the pitch of whatever is being played in that deck. This way I can have a max of 4 fiducials for each deck. This would help a lot.
A little explanation: Before you ask why I want to do this, let me justify. I listen to Indian Music and it is all in MP3 not midi so i don't know how to control it from the reacTable straight away, if there is a way please do tell me.
PLEASE PLEASE help me, I really want to do this. "
"You can use Pure Data ( http://www.puredata.org/ ) to load and play back the MP3 files as samples. Setting a patch up with volume and pitch is pretty easy. There may be some limits on how big a sample can be but I don't know what they might be. You can ask here=> http://puredata.hurleur.com/ It is Pure Data forum with some smart folks in it.
Bill "
So could someone tell me how this is possible.pleasehelpme.
It would be nice if someone cold post the code for i mp3 example file and I could try larn fromit and implement to other mp3s
thanks
Reactivision simple fiducial marker patch
I'm pretty stoked about this. With all the hints I've picked up here I managed to make setting up a fiducial marker for the reacTIVision software a snap in PD. I made it a sub-patch/abstraction sort of thing I think. Sorry for the jumble there, I'm still not sure about what things are called.
To use it, dump this patch in your extras folder (or in the path somewhere) and when you want to track a marker, make an [rct_marker x] object in your patch with X representing which fiducial you want to track. The object will output, in order, Added, Removed, X-axis, Y-axis, and Angle. Added and Removed are bangs and the other three are floats.
Okay. I'm calm now. I love succeeding in these little tasks I set for myself.
Bill
PS: It just passed the "acid test", too. It tracked three markers at the same time with a camera set-up, not just the simulator. That was one of my other concerns.
