video unable to open/play on windows 7

Yes, I read that and installed K-lite already. On the same machine, I can read any kind of video files / container (avi, mov's h264, mp4,..) with vanilla 0.50 + Gem 0.94 from deken (64bit only?). But Gem on Purr Data can't read any video.
Hm, that's odd -- I'm certain that I tried it with Purr Data and it worked for me. I don't remember which Purr Data version -- I assume the latest.
I was also using Windows 10, not 7. (But I'll probably have to use pd-vanilla + externals for class in a few months anyway, because some students use Mac and there's no Gem for Purr Data on Mac.)

-> It works on OSX if you copy Gem 0.94 from deken to the extra folder, You only need to add Gem in startup preferences and add "/Applications/PureData/Pd-l2ork.app/Contents/Resources/app.nw/extra/Gem" in the path.

Great, I tried 2.10 in windows10 & OSX and I can read all kind of files. So the problem is fixed, thanks!
I will do more testing later.

woops; on OSX I was running my version with Gem... so I see that Gem is still not shipped on OSX, is there any reason for that?

Oh wow... OK. I'll try that when I can. Thanks! Would be better to keep them on the same distribution they're already using.
(https://git.purrdata.net/jwilkes/purr-data/issues/371#note_3693 seemed to be saying this was very difficult to solve.)

@ddw_music It's not necessarily difficult. I've just gotten a lot of ways to get Gem up and running which aren't really maintainable. Part of the problem with Pd Extended was that there were too many hacks to get it compiling on each platform. I want to avoid those problems as much as possible in Purr Data.

I tried and It works in Purr Data only in my old 10.9, not on my new 10.14 MacOs system (The lib load but some errors at gemwin's screen creation
