Trying to figure out what is going on and why I am getting the error "cnv: no method for 'float'"

I am trying to clean up my patches with less connectors. That is the reason I am writing about this.

So, I want to use a slider. I have the slider receiving values. . . . EXCELLENT. No errors.

When I try to use the Send option in Properties, I get the error above cnv: no method for 'float'

What is going on? Am I doing something wrong? In fact, if I send that message to another number box, it does work. So, it works, but I am getting this error.

I imagine that the message is also being received elsewhere........ and the error message is coming from there...... try a click on the error message followed by "enter" and it might show you the canvas "cnv" reporting the error.

You can do find --> last error to find out where the error came from.

Thanks guys. Will have to try that find option. The issue it seemed if memory served me correctly is that I was using a number on the "receive" message. I had no idea that this would create an issue.

Essentially, I was calling one slider ch1. This created an error. Once I called it chONE, it was fine. Any idea on why this is?

I don't think that it has anything to do the with the nomenclature. By changing the "call" to chONE you are no longer sending the message to ch1........ so............no error. Somewhere in your patch (or active patches) you have something ready to receive ch1...........[r ch1]........ that doesn't like what it receives......... and so reports an error. That means that somewhere in your patch (or patches) something else is listening for "ch1".
You could try to find it with the "find" ch1 in the menu bar of pd.............. but, as you are no longer sending (anything at all) to it, it doesn't matter.
When you send your letter to.... [s ch1].... and there are two [r ch1]'s Pd will "photocopy" your letter and deliver it to both. The [r ch1] that you love will receive the message, ........but also the [r ch1] that you don't know about / have forgotten about... and he/she will send an angry letter to the terminal window saying "w t f"............unless he/she is expecting this message, in which case you are actually in much more trouble!!!!
When you use a send [s(end) something] you need to be careful and make sure that the "address" (something) is unique. Within a patch you can use $0 in the "name", "variable" , "address" - whatever you want to call it. $0 will be assigned a value (number) above (over) 1000........which makes it very unlikely that it will be received anywhere else. Pd will keep track of these $0's so that they cannot "bleed" between patches...... $0 is unique to the patch.... contained.... "firewalled" within the patch!. So you could send ch1$0 and receive ch1$0 in your patch and be absolutely certain that it will not be received in any other patches (on any other pages).
So the [s something]............ [r something] is a very powerful feature BUT you must be very careful that the addresses are ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE and correct. for the receiver..... spelling mistakes NOT allowed!

Sorry about that. I thought the patch might be too convoluted at this point for you to want to work out what the issues are.

Upon opening, the piece begins. I guess, I should turn that off? That would make more sense. I was constructing the patch to be "user-friendly" where the user would not have to do anything to "start" the piece. And only have a few keystrokes that they would have to do to make the piece work.

Would you be willing to look at it, if I turned off the loadbang?
