HI,

I am trying to sync two metronomes, one playing triplets and one playing sixteenth notes.
It seems the get out of synch pretty quickly.

Does anyone know how I could get them lined up? I am attaching a patch of the method I used plus a screen shot.
I also have a counter I am using from the cyclone library.

@nicnut Single metro clocked at the speed of your 16th notes with multiple counters. Here we have 16/ths, quarters, and triplets.

@nicnut You're losing sync because you have distinct metro objects for sixteenths and triplets. The precision limits of Pd floats means you can't always set those metros to exact ratios of each other. A way to solve the issue is to make a common metro and derive the sixteenths and triplets from it, for example:
triplets and sixteenths.pd

@jameslo No need to delete, you provided comments and more explanation as well as a slightly different execution. Reply window was hiding that you were replying/in thread, I would not have bothered posting if I had noticed. Your version can also go faster than mine since it does not have to count to 96.

Thank you both for the replies. Both of your solutions make sense. Seems like you both found a subdivision that was in common for both rhythms and based everything off that. Very cool, I can't believe I never have done this before. Thanks for your help!
