Controlling a synth with a keyboard
hi domien,
yes i have tried pdvst, sorry i should have mentioned it.
i did get it working in energyXT after a bit of a struggle, tried a couple of synth examples out, worked fine, though i couldn't save presets unless the synth had built in patch system.
pdvst was what got me to try pd really,i'm hoping to get my own creations working, once i get past the basics.
still, save as vst would be nice as it allows you to share your creations further afield.
not really sure why gripd isn't good,i've not got as far as gui's yet and the synth i tried didn't have one anyway.
Controlling a synth with a keyboard
Hey spacedad, currently there's PdVst (http://crca.ucsd.edu/~jsarlo/pdvst/) which allows you to load your pd patches as a vst in the host of your liking. I tried it once and got it working in flstudio. However, there's a lot of parameter passing and converting. Besides that you also had to use GrIPD, which i don't really like, so i abandonned it. Maybe you'll like it?
Good luck,
Domien
Pd + linux + vst(i) + slackware-11
Hello,
there is a vst~ external available for pd + linux?
This plugin is the opossite (to convert pd patches to vst or I am wrong?)
http://crca.ucsd.edu/~jsarlo/pdvst/
I found this page
http://puredata.info/community/pdwiki/Vst
That redirects to:
in CVS @ /externals/grill/vst
I downloaded grill/vst but it says that I have to compile flext.
Sooooo, I compiled flext succesfully (not so easy, I am not a programmer)
http://grrrr.org/ext/flext/
Now - almost done - I have to compile somehow grill/vst but I don't understand how.
Anyone?
Icons
hi,
i'm a pd newbie(winXP SP2),but before i start,i'd like to get it looking nice.(how shallow )i did a quick search but couldn't find any icons.could anyone point me to some?
(there was a link for sourceforge about pd icons i saw on google, but it wasn't connecting for some reason)
anyway, thanks for setting up this forum,i'll no doubt be back asking more newbie questions.
my first attempt at pd was using pdvst, with some help from a kind fellow at kvr i got it working and tried out the example synth+polysynth patches inside my host(energyXT).that's as far as i got.look fwd to trying some simple patches next.
cheers,spacedad.
Range slider in pd
thanx domien and laserbreak
yes...this is lalo ...usine and pd sounds good together
..
would sound more good if pdVst would be more complete (supporting VSTTimeInfo in and out and supporting midi out, supporting latest version of pd with all its objects) ..
too bad that the great joe sarlo seems not to have time or interest in developing pdVST further...
..oh how would i like to be a good coder
thanx
VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE!!!

...I had found a little java prog that convert .pd in .dll externs back in the day, but i have loose it, if someone have the url.
Just found it, looks like the one:
http://crca.ucsd.edu/~jsarlo/pdvst/
)
A track with some puredata inside
not at all puredata only,
but the electric bass sound is a shitty patch i made that have problem handle polyphony
and some layers that comes time to time is from another patch i found, compo environment is energyXT and puredata is used as VSTi via the pdvst thing, other vsti for the rest of the sounds.
How to start
You can run Pd as a VST plugin, http://crca.ucsd.edu/~jsarlo/pdvst/
