or are you wondering about a mini timeline within the plugin, like i.e. dblue_glitch has? then, a seq, that rewinds itself on stop is enough? that should be easy.
i am at a loss though, when it comes to a real timestamp/songposititon being sent from the host.
hey, basically all plugins whether vst or au can receive transport timecode info from the host. So in theory that would mean sample accurate sync and if you have a snazzy enough patch with positional markers then you could have the sequence in the patch tally with the timeline in the host.
However this is all a bit of a moot for my as I run OSX, for which there is not PdVST! If there was then there would be good times ahead, and it would align Pd more with the whole Max4live thang. I envisage something like Reaktor or Bidules implementation.
Pdvst help
Hello all.
I create folder VST d:\VST\pdvst\*
Copy all pdvst in this folder
Return and copy all Files pdvst_PD_freeverb.zip In d:\VST\pdvst\
When i load freeverb~.dll in FL He sad PD.dll not found
How i can show Fl or any seq There found pd.dll
If i see properties freeverb~.dll I see that use System32 Kernel32 and msvcrt dll BUT pd.dll RED COLOR (Not found)
mmm.....
People that problem?
Use Windows 7
Max4Live... How about Pd4Live?
I did use time by time pdvst within energyXT 1, was pretty nice, but the way pdvst work is not ideal.
It would be as good than max4live if it let user store the patch state, structure, and data right inside your main host project.
What would mimic the max4live way (if i have well understood how it works), would be having only 1 pdvst vst plugin that would be able to store the patch as a preset, instead of creating an instance of pdvst for each patch you make, modify.
Not sure if the specification of vst let you store a big amount of data...
If only i had better coding abilities, i would give it a try, right now the pdvst project looks pretty dead (not new work on it since 2004).
Max4Live... How about Pd4Live?
there has been pdvst doing somewhat exactly what now comes as a oh so great innovation for ages of using pd patches as vst plugins in theoretically any vst host.
as far as i know, the external for that was win only (wäääh) and last time i checked, it didn't work on live8 anymore (wäääääääääääh!) but on live7.
http://crca.ucsd.edu/~jsarlo/pdvst/
i am working on a bridge to use both pd simply running side by side communicating via midi and jack but i have difficulty with latencies on both.
Max4Live... How about Pd4Live?
won't happen, i can't see ableton going through the trouble of integrating an opensource app that won't make them any additional money (not to mention the potential issues embedding an opensource app in a proprietary one).
there was PDvst a few years ago but it hasn't been updated in forever, and i can't even get it working with my current version of live. but even that just let you run an instance of pd like an effect insert.
i'm not looking forward to converting a handful of my patches to max but i'm gonna have to for max4live.
what i'm curious about is why nobody's made an ableton-esque app for linux yet. all the linux audio developers should team up and make an opensource multiplatform abletonkiller and give us our Pd access in it
Export patch as rtas?
i don't believe so, for a while there was pdVST which let you run an instance of Pd on a channel in a host, and run patches via that, but it hasn't been updated since 2004/2005 (and after just testing it doesn't want to work in ableton live)

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a PDau?!
Yes! Or even at least a PdVST that worked on OSX, for a start.
(I've said this numerous times before and responses seem to go quiet!) Thing is, its kind of hard to wish for something in the Open source world without feeling like a lazy tosspot. I think the expectation is that if you want something, go make it. I just dont have the know how :-/
I know what you mean. Particularly with a creative project like Pd, it seems that open source developers, as good as they are, are more interested in adding features that suit their needs. Since there's no monetary incentive to add features that typical users want, there's less of a desire to add those features if they aren't personally useful. And then there's guys like Hans who do seem interested in making Pd more usable but also have a never-ending todo list anyway.
I'm currently trying to learn a little audio programming so I can do some of those things myself (and make my resume a little heavier), though right now I can't do much more than a sine wave . So PdAU in my very...very distant future? ;-p

a couple years ago i played around with pdvst, it was cool but i didn't have much use for it at the time.
now i'm tinkering with the idea of using it along with ableton to get some realtime visuals controlled with ableton (at least until max4live comes out, the "duke nukem forever" of modular dsp software).
however it appears it hasn't been updated since 2004. does anyone know of either some other plugin or where i can find an updated version?
also i should mention i only ask because this 2004 version won't seem to load in ableton for me, i have the folder/dll in my VST folder but it doesn't show up. i haven't tested it in other hosts but without it working in ableton it's pretty useless for me.
I have no idea sorry, but I would have thought that development wouldn't have stopped. I presume that you tried to contact the author?
(at least until max4live comes out, the "duke nukem forever" of modular dsp software).
will that spell the end of Pd for you?

JACK
use a host and rewire reason into it, then run pdvst on the master channel? it's one solution
