Clicks&pops everytime filters are changed
i'm all new to pure data(allready in love and hooked), read some manuals en tutorials for about a week now and this is probably my fourth patch, so maybe i'm doing something really stupid and obvious(hope so).
i'm expiriencing these pops&clicks with everything that changes in the patch. it's hard to discribe for me in english but in this case(but happens with everything) a phasor~ melody is gong into a bpf~ wich centre frequency is randomly changed every 100ms/200 ms(it doesn't matter) now every time the center frequency is changed there is a click or pop coming thru my speakers. some louder than other.
try'd lowering the output volume wit *~ 0.5 for instance but this didn't work.
my delay time is set to 50 ms but even changing it to 500 ms doesn't change a thing.
this happens as well when using my internal soundcard as using my fasttrack pro.
im using pd40.3 extended on a 2.4ghz 2gb ram macbook pro.

i'm coming to the UK in september/october.
Well maybe we could have an informal meetup somewhere or somesort? I can probably sort some space in the building where i work....

but my computer has a cracked logic board which i can't fix right now, so i don't know what i can do.
Ah sh*t that is a bummer. ISn't that a new Macbook (pro)? Ouch. Under warranty? If not, dont even think of getting some company to fix it - you might as buy a new laptop....Unless you feel confident in sourcing the part and getting the tork screwdrivers out (its actually not too hard)
Blo*dy Apple. I've had logic boards fail repeatedly. My multiple friends' Macbook hard drives have started making a loud ticking noise and just failed. I thought Apple were through all that
OT: nice feedback
hello,
i really twist my mind over this for a longer time... i tried many different buildups but nothing worked so far
this is what i did:
i built a very simple patch of a selfcontrolled feedback in pd
the things i use:
-macbook pro
-pd
-2 piezos (mics) soldered on a cables with jacks
-metalplate
a piezo:
so i attached the 2 piezos on the metalplate, plug one jack in the line in, one in the line out and start the patch.
theres one piezo used as a mic and one as a loudspeaker (together with the object) both are attached on the same metalplate.
the circle is closed... there is a feedbackloop that goes through the object and through my computer.
when i talk or make other noises i can feed the feedbackloop...
the pd patch controls the feedback so it wouldnt grow to much, the aim is to get the larsen tones:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_feedback
....this works really fine with my macbook pro because of its build in headamplifier.
i really can hear my voice and all the high frequented noise i make (the piezos have got a spectrum of 2900 ± 500 Hz)
now i want to plug more of these together. for this i use a m-audio 1814.
but i just hear a feedback, no voice or noises. sounds like they were cutted out.
i tried:
-the mic preamp
-the headphoneamp (it has got 2)
-an external booster
-different buffersizes with jackpilot
-different delays
NOTHING...
whats so special about the macbook preamp ? or is m-audio just lame ?
greetz...
Does pix\_texture work for anyone on a macbook?
for the first time in a year or so, i am trying out some gem visuals, and it all used to work fine on my old powerbook,
but now, on a macbook (not pro, os 10.4), [pix_texture] is not really working properly. it will play SOME of my jpgs, but most of them return a 'GL : invalid value' error.
i read a lot of mailing list archives and internet pages, and some people suggested turning on mode 0 or mode 1, quality 0 or quality 1..etc but nothing works.
is anyone here using gem on a macbook? do you also get this problem? any solutions?

Summary: JackOSX 0.75 crashing Pd 0.40-2
Initial Comment:
The latest beta of Jack for Multiprocessor support: http://www.grame.fr/~letz/JackOSX.0.75b15.pkg.zip
Is crashing the latest version (autobuild) of Pd-extended 0.40-2 when Jack is selected from the Media menu.
Search the forum for setting up Jack, its a FAQ - basically let Pd do it's own configuration and set everything from inside jack.
Click noise on audio testing
...and use Jack OSX as your audio driver, regardless of whether you're using a soundcard or built-in.
Portaudio seems to be buggered. Pd natively supports Jack
Glitches with Creative Xmod
Hi guys!
I've been running the "old" version of Pd-extended (38.something) on an Intel Macbook for about two months now and recently switched to the new version (39.3). But as you may have guessed from the title, there's a huge problem now I didn't have with the older version: I'm getting glitches in my audio output, ranging from clicks to longer "buzzy" sounds, whenever I set my Creative Xmod external soundcard as the output device, the Macbook's internal output works normal.
And no, it's not a CPU problem, since I was smart enough to download the Intel version of Pd-extended and I didn't have this problem with the old version which was ppc only if I recall correctly. Also, I'm getting those glitches even with the simplest [osc] to [dac~] patches.
This is starting to drive me insane. Any help would be kindly appreciated.
Fairly efficient analog drums
By the way! WHY does Obi's patch here require 20% cpu load on my 2.4ghz dual core macbook pro, but only 8% on my 1.5ghz G4???? Anyone else able to see this?
Intel compatible
people seem to have got it going...here check the mailing list archives
