Windows/Mac compatibility
Hi there,
I've been patching this pretty simple metronome which has a few tempo preselection.
It's actually for a juggler I met, he had a very complicated setup to do something pretty simple during his show so I offered to take a few minutes patching this for him and send him.
My issue is that this works perfectly on windows (I only have windows and linux OS) yet his personal computer is a macbook and apparently it doesn't work there. I'll try as soon as I can get a hand on a macbook yet maybe some of yours might already have an idea about what's wrong ?
thanks guys
problems with installation
@Houselover If you are using Sierra look here........ http://forum.pdpatchrepo.info/topic/10543/problem-running-pd-extended-on-64-bit-macbook-pro
You will see that it might be possible to run extended, even though it is 32-bit, but maybe not.
If you are using osx 10.7+ this might help........
https://puredata.info/docs/faq/help-pd-crashes-on-startup-on-mac-osx-10-7
or.....
https://puredata.info/docs/faq/Pd_not_launching/?searchterm=osx start
Other users that have had the same problem will reply as well, so keep coming back to this thread if you have no success...... and please come back and tell us how you fixed it..... when you get it working.
You should tell your teacher immediately. It is possible to download the latest version of "Vanilla" and add many of the features of "extended" using the "Deken Plug-in" that is included in the download, but some things might not work. Your teacher can maybe help you with this...
OR......... Purr Data has been released today, and could be what you need?....... http://forum.pdpatchrepo.info/topic/10569/purr-data-finally-released

WII REMOTE INTO PD
@MicheleBagaglio said:
You can try the [hid] object (it is included in the standard pd-extended package). It allows pd to receive the data stream from USB and other devices (bluetooth, and an apple macbook's IR remote control as I recently found out). You then have to aptly route and sieve the incoming stream.
IR remote control? Why I searched for some info on macbook's IR sensor but don't find proper documentation. Could you please describe how did you manage to get hid reading from that port?
I instantly thought about using old tv remote controllers and see what happens. That'd be cool
PC (pure data) to OSX (Ableton) to transmit midi & audio in sync?
jackosx no
jackosx is for from any OS X application to any OS X application
SEND AND RECEIVING BY OSC
Hi guys, sorry if this question has been asked before, but we haven't been able to find any help online for our problem.
I am currently trying to send information to my friends laptop using OSC.
We have been using these patches : http://www.sendspace.com/file/4uhnc4
We created a network in network preferences which we then both connected to. We then opened the send patch on my computer (Macbook Pro, I7, osx 10.6.6 8GB RAM) and the receive patch on my mates computer (Macbook White, 1.83ghz, osx 10.4.11 2GB RAM)
I then changed the IP address in the send patch to that of my friends IP address. We then changed the port number to 9000 in all boxes on the send and receive patch.
I got this process to work internally by opening both patches on my computer (Macbook Pro) and it worked fine.
My friends PD is showing an error saying OSC deprecated.
If anyone can shed any light on this, or help us out, it would be greatly appreciated!
What is the best way to use pd with live 8?
You can use jackOSX to route audio between Pd and Live, and you can use the built-in IAC drivers in OSX to send midi back and forth. jackOSX comes with a vst/au plugin that allows you to route audio from an effects slot, so you can treat Pd as a plugin that way.
Bluetooth port problem using pd + arduino
Hello,
I've been using a Mac Mini running pd-extended and two arduino boards attached to it to control some electric motors of an installation. I use Pduino and the StandardFirmata uploaded into arduino and I had no problems until I decided to do a file transfer from my MacBook into this Mac Mini using Bluetooth. I opened the Setup Bluetooth Device, I chose to open a connection to my computer and did the file transfer.
Unfortunatelly, when I opened the patch I've been working for several months, one of the two arduino boards was not working. The comand
[open 2<
|
[arduino]
started to cause an error message saying the port I was using was no longer of my arduino but the tty.Bluetooth port related to my MacBook. I turned off the Bluetooth Devices of both computer but the tty port related to that bluetooth transfer is still in "the place of" my arduino usb tty port.
Then I tryed all the possibilities: [open 0<, [open 1< and [open 4< to try to find the right tty port. The [open 3< is already in use by the other arduino board which fortunatelly is still working. When i tryed [open 5< I received the message that I could only use more than four ports on .
Do anyone no how to manage these tty ports? Can I erase the tty port related to the bluetooth transfer? Will that cause my arduino tty port to come back to the list in which pure data can access?
I'm a bit scared because the installation will be exposed in two weeks!
Thank you very much for your attention.
Skrako.
Video timecode control via MIDI
hey all,
i'm no expert at all in pd or MIDI protocol, but i've got an issue here that i believe pd could solve.
i have a project in which an operator is controlling different audio tracks in a timeline using nuendo (http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/audiopostproduction_product/nuendo4.html), which is installed in a windows laptop. there's a MIDI interface Cakewalk UM-1G (http://www.cakewalk.com/products/hardware/default.aspx?Prod=UM-1G) that connects the nuendo laptop with a macbook pro, which we initially had modul8 running. the purpose of this setup is to control the videos in the macbook using MIDI messages shot by the nuendo timeline in another computer.
what i would like to know is if pd offers a viable solution to this issue. could i use pd to manage the videos using MIDI messages. one detail: the messages should carry timecode information, so that the operator can control video timing (speed up or slow down).
was i clear? appreciate any help, thanks!
