Hello!

How can I detect a presence in front of an external webcam and start a sound file when someone is detected?

Can anybody help me? I have to say I am really new to pd.

In your Pd frogram folder you should navigate to pd\extra\Gem\examples\04.video\03.movement_detection.pd

If you just want detection, and you don't want to learn and understand Pure Data (although for your health, happiness and well being I think you should persevere..... it's not easy, but its worth it).............Try VPT7
It is a standalone and free Max program that is "stunning". You will need the videotrigger add-in to do what you want... (and for your health, happiness and well being you MUST try it!).....

@solipp how can I control more than one external camera in pd?

@ptrbt If your extra camera is "seen" on your system then you can switch to it by sending [pix_video] a message [device 0( or [device 1( etc.
You should look at [pix_video-help] by searching for it in your pd/extra/gem folder, or by right clicking [pix_video] and selecting help. There you will see a horizontal "radio bar" and by selecting the squares you can switch between cameras.
If you want to see both cameras at once you will need to displace the images in the rendered window like this............ using [translate]...........
