Just something odd I noticed while having this in an idle tab.

anyone know what might be causing this?

Something on the forum's webpages is gobbling up an oddly large amount of cpu time...
-
@TerraByteTech I have had the same problem. Always with IE11..... is that the same for you?
It has resulted in my uploading the wrong file (and once...... very sensitive information) because the browser window had frozen while I was searching for the file to upload.
It is a rare occurrence, but now that I know that I am not alone I will try to divine the reason next time it happens....

@whale-av I use chrome because It handles the webpage threading and webgl a lot better and I have a couple plugins ive written for myself.
So, now we know its not specific browsers causing this.I'm looking through the site HTML to see if i can find anything.
does anyone know how often the webpage calls home to check for new notifications? I'm thinking that may be contributing.
-
@TerraByteTech I know this forum refreshes almost constantly because I don't have to click "refresh" in order to see new notifications or edits made. Could that be a contributing factor?
-
@rjp9 I was wondering that as well. Maybe the refresh interval just needs to be lowered to maybe once every 5 minutes? That's how I have my app notifications set up and that keeps battery usage on my phone pretty low.
-
@TerraByteTech Do we as Chrome users have control over this or is it just a part of the website code itself?
-
@TerraByteTech Normally... activity seems normal...... in fact very minimal (1970's style)........
no Akamai, no 100enet....nothing......at all.
I will have to wait until it happens again...........
Win7 Ultimate 64bit.... IE11

@rjp9 There is a plugin called stop autorefresh on the chrome web store but apparently it hasnt worked for a while. besides, i lost internet the other day for a little bit and it was still gobbling up one whole cpu.
-
Hmm..maybe Miller created this whole thing as a ruse to steal our credit card info haha
-
@rjp9 I have thought for a long time that he is a very dangerous criminal....... he has certainly stolen my life!

@whale-av The development of this new 'deken' malware certainly doesn't help. Should really fire up the old Mcafee Virus Protection (tm) at some point
