Having tried to get PD to open for several months now, I find I am still unable. It bounces in the dock of my macbook and doesn't open. I tried looking at some other threads on this forum but none of them seemed to work

It occurred when I tried to change something in the settings (I think block size?)

I'm absolutely desperate to get this working again so I can make some more electronic music - this happened just as I was getting into it!

Is there anything I should be trying?

re-install it?... otherwise try to launch from the terminal and try to use flags (for example -blocksize 64), which you can find here http://en.flossmanuals.net/pure-data/getting-started/advanced-configuration/

If it is just an audio setting error I would try the -noaudio flag first, and then you can set your audio up within Pd as before.
If that does not solve the problem then there are two other possibilities.........

I think this may have been a problem I encountered when I changed the audio api?try setting it back to coreAudio by manually editing the ~/Library/Preferences/org.puredata.pd.plist (or pdextended) file. Change the audioapi field to 4.

you can also change the block size back to 64 there
