Hi, I'm not sure if this is the place for this question. Please correct me if there's somewhere else here I should ask this.

I've created a video mixer in pure data and would like to use triggers from arduino to load videos and execute a simple cross fade at the beginning and end of the video.

So, first, i'm wondering if there is a way to automate loading videos rather than using the bang button. From there, can I execute a crossfade with code or part of a command set rather than doing it manually.

Yes, if you already have your video mixer built then you can "automate" it. I have not yet found anything impossible in Pure Data.
You are currently using a bang to manually load a file. You will find that if you send any message at all to the inlet of the bang (even 0), then that will trigger the bang. So all you have to do is get that message into Pd from your Arduino. You will find a lot of help for that here: http://forum.pdpatchrepo.info/category/10/i-o-hardware-diy

To open a particular video file (rather than having to select it manually) you can put the path and file name into the........ [open(..... message like this [open myvideofiles/newvideos/myvideo.vid( where myvideo.vid is the file you want to open.

thanks so much for responding. I'm going to explore these suggestions. they make sense to me, but i'm rather new to pd so at this point, everything helps.
