finally found what i was looking for. [para_bp2~] in the iemlib, perfect for building a parametric eq.
you can chain as many of these together as you need.

i was afraid to check .....
but just did...and the news is GOOD! i copied about 50 units, and cpu usage only jumped about 4% on a 2gig machine.
probably about the same as a normal vcf~

128 units gives me a jump of less than 10%
i could make more than 1000 if pd's gui didn't slow to a halt due to all the GOP redrawing.

here's a 7 band EQ i did today.
has a nice flat response when all gains are set to zero
