I have to use pure data with WindowsXP but i've some problemes..
I can't do the Tilde sign or Copy from a patch and Past in an other patch and others things like that ..
Does anyone has a solution ..??

PS: I've try to used the last version of PD and PD extend but nothing hapened ...

Sounds as if your keyboard is mapped to the wrong region. There's nothing else for it but create an object box and try typing every key until you find it. It must be there. Maybe on the "`|" or maybe on the same key as "#", depending on what type of kb you have and how you set up Windows.

Thank for your reply but , i don't think it's a mapping problem because, when i write something in the notepad or in others text edit softwares, i have the tild sign and i could copy/paste all i want ... like here , i could write it "~" , but not in PD . strange...

I can't copy/paste text either under WinXP. I can however select groups of objects and copy paste those - have you tried this with the pd menu? Make sure you're working in the same instance of pd, because copy/pasteing between different processes also does not work.

Copy/past is resolve , it was because i worked in differents instance of pD . (normally, i work on a mac..)
But , I still can't do the tilde sign ... Am I alone with sthis probleme ??

i have used pd on various xp machines since 2004 and haven't had trouble with the tilde

You said the tilde worked in notepad and other applications so I would guess that there is something up with your PD install.

Since you already installed the newest versions, maybe try an older version of PD.

Yes, Tildes appear in refrence patches and in my old patches (done with MacOS) , it's the only way i've found to have this sign , i copy a node with the tild sign and i change the name...
I will test an old version of pd , but has you said, it's weird ..

I stumbled upon this because ~ does not work for me either running version 0.50.0 on Windows 7, Swedish keyboard.

One workaround is to make a ~ in eg. Notepad and then use cut-and-paste (Ctrl-C + Ctrl-V) into the object

If you hold down the alt key, then type 0126 on the number keypad then release the alt key, do you get a ~ ?

on win7 I have tried 0.50-0, wich is the version present in puredata.info, and I had no tilde with my keyboard ;
Then I ve been on Miller's website, and 0.50-2 version works fine !
Really fun to see that Miller's website is still the more appropriate
