Hi everyone,

I've downloaded the FFTease 2.5.2 library but whenever I try any of the objects, as soon as I turn dsp on the sound is cut off not only from Pd but from the whole operating system as well until I turn dsp off. This is weird and has never happened before, does anyone else have the same problem?

I'm on macOS 10.13.6, Pd 0.48-1 32-bit

Update: I tried version 3.0 downloaded from here and this time objects don't even create.

@weightless Is yours an intel mac, or did you compile for unix?

@whale-av It's an intel macbook pro 2012, I used the pre-compiled objects that come with both versions of external.

@weightless That is the same mac as mine, but it's so long since I have been into the OSX partition that I cannot remember which OS I have.......! I think it is Leopard or Snow Leopard.
I don't ever update anything that works.
Maybe Mavericks >> High Sierra has some revolutionary changes.
You could try compiling against your OS maybe?

@whale-av That is a very interesting approach since updates tend to bring more issues than fixes usually.
I did try compiling the source code for fftease 3.0 but the objects still don't work, but I admit I have no idea how to compile externals, so I just opened the directory with the source code in terminal and typed "sudo make". Is that it, or do I need to do something more?

@weightless I have never tried. I studied Fortran (punch cards and a mainframe) at university in 1976. I think things have probably changed a little since then.
The readme says......
"The contents of "fftease32-externals" were compiled on Mac OSX 10.9.3
and should work on Intel-based Mac computers. For other Unix-based
computers, just type 'make' to build executables appropriate for your
computer. Then type 'perl collect.pl' to collect all the externals to
the "fftease32-externals" folder. Finally, move "fftease32-externals"
and "fftease32-help" to a Pd-accessible location."

So 'perl collect.pl' might complete the operation.
My browser turns 'collect.pl' into a hyperlink for some reason. Probably best not to click on it...

@whale-av It does! Although when things start to involve "real" code, compiling etc, I know nothing about it and it's all very mysterious.

Yes, the audio works just fine. Unfortunately the help files for version 3.0 are less detailed than those for 2.5.2, I wonder if I could use those old ones instead, maybe I'll give them a go.
