It seems to me that the [clone] object isn't part of PD for Linux yet (or at least the Linux install I have on my raspberry pi).

I'd love to be able to use it - is this something I can compile myself? I've never compiled an object before, so if anyone has any tips that would be excellent.

Which Pd version do you have on your Pi? If it's an old one (I think before 0.47) then [clone] isn't there. You either have to compile a new Pd version yourself (the INSTALL.txt file that comes with it is pretty clear on the process), or compile [clone]. Since this object is a native one, I think compiling it alone isn't possible without any tweaks (I might be wrong though).
The easiest would be to compile the latest Pd which you can find in Pd's or Miller's website.

ah ok yes of course, that makes sense. I think the PD install I have on my Pi is 0.47, which I believe is the latest version available via the automatic update, and I think you're right that [clone] came in with version 0.48. I might try to compile the latest version for Pi myself.

@ingox is right, and I too mentioned that [clone] is not available in versions before 0.47. Are you sure you have 0.47? What does this output if you type it in a terminal:

pd -version

oh yes, my mistake, I'm on 0.46 on my Pi. I'll update it!
