Hello,
I have an applescript patch saving out audio files to a directory and a pd patch reading them for samples. unfortunately, the samples seem to be playing back at a much higher pitch. I thought it was a sample rate thing, but another set of files (that weren't produced by the applescript) and have different bit rates play fine. my samples play fine in quicktime and preview properly in finder. so why doesn't pd like my files?

[soundfiler]

then an array for samp1

is there something I'm missing? something I should be looking for?

Ok, so heres my problem... Well first off i guess i should explain myself. I am a High School art teacher currently teaching an Arts and Technology class.. I found this program and it is awesome. The kids seem to like it and i really think its pushing ideas of art and technology.

The students have been doing some interesting stuff and as we get deeper into the program they are definitely surprising me! Anyway the end goal is to create some interactive visual pieces that deal with imagery and social justice issues through the program..

they are well on their way but im having trouble figuring out how to record their final pieces into a dvd format or a quicktime movie? quicktime would be the best because i could then put it on dvd.. The AV guy at the school is also willing to display these artworks on the tv monitors/clocks throughout the building i just need to get it in a format he can use...

so.... how do i make this work? thanks guys i really appreciate any feedback.

mhh, you're not talking about the patch you posted, did you?
i had that problem too with gem patches running qt video sequences, because i had no quicktime installed.
installing quicktime should fix that.

on my machine it doesn't work, as you said only the first frame is running?
maybe i don't have quicktime?

Hello all,
I'm a real Pd newbie and am currently using a patch created by someone else.

The patch loads .mov videos using the GEM object "pix movie". I've noticed that for some videos the reported number of frames is different than what I see if I open the same video using the Quicktime viewer. Here is what else I know:

1. The videos made using iMovie load in Pd with the same number of frames as what I see in Quicktime, but the videos made on a Windows machine have consistently fewer frames.

2. The longer the movie, the greater the discrepancy in the number of frames. This suggests a frame rate issue but all videos were made with the same frame rate.

In short, how does Pd calculate the number of frames when video is loaded?

I'm trying to compile Gridflow on Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy on a Pentium4 laptop.

Has any one succesfully comiled on ubuntu?

I have been able to get so far using the synaptic package manager to find most missing things, (when I do it again on my desktop I'll write down all the packages I needed and post it here for others) but I am stuck on a couple for things that I can't find info on in the forum. I have PD-extended which I installed using the deb installer.

What I can't figure out is:
I have a Pentium 4 with mmx, I have installed NASM and I found a package called intel2gas but it didn't help. No idea what to try next.
I have a quicktime.h in /usr/include/lqt so not sure why it doesn't find it. I haven't edited the configure file and the INCLUDE_PATH is already set to /usr/include.
Where do I need to put the gem source files? I downloaded the gem files and I have the src folder with all the source files in it...
Whats the benefit of getting openCV? Do I need the dev packages too?
And I have gobjc++4.2 installed which says its a GNU Objective C++ compiler, is this what I need, + how do I get gridflow to find it?

I had a look at the configure file but couldn't make sense of it.

Please can any one offer any hints? I really want the '#labeling' thing I read about here http://createdigitalmotion.com/2007/01/18/open-source-motion-tracking-with-multiblob-for-gridflowpd/

ps the article says to get pure:dyne, but it doesn't have the latest version of gridflow but I do know its getting a big update and switching to debian installer soon

I've been using pd over the last few months on an XP machine, but now poritng a project onto a Mac computer.

Using the test audio and MIDI menu I get audio signal (out of a USB audio device) but no MIDI signal. I tested playing back a MIDI file using quicktime - no problem hearing the Beatles at their best(!)

What could be happening?

the Pd manual directions are a bit esoteric

"To get MIDI working, you have to do the Mac OSX magic to get a USB MIDI interface installed. I've seen this done with Midisport devices and I think you just download the OSX driver and follow directions."

So i did that, and instaled the driver for an M-Audo MIDISPORT device. From the MIDI Set Up panel, the device shows up with its "online" box checked.

From the System Preferences-> Quicktime -> advance panel-> set to "quicktime music synthesizer" is selected.

Running pd 0.39.2 test 5 on Mac 10.4.8

Any help much appreciated! i will keep perusing the net for more info meanwhile.

ps: I don't plan on using any MIDI cintrol, just having Pd play some MIDI files along with some fm synhesis.

I've pd extended 0.38.4, I tried in preferences, but I can see no devices.
I think the problem is in OSX 10.4 midi settings.
some applications works well (quicktime use quicktime synthesizer).
Pd work well with eternal devices, but I'm interested in working with normal internal midi synth becouse of I often work off home.

there is no many codec that works with pdp,on linux version better result i had was yv12 quicktime codec,

i don't know if there is a version of ' transcode' for OSx, whatever here my command line to encode DV files in a quicktime PDP workable file:
