\[resolved\] GEM opening quicktime files and pix data problems.
Hi,
As far as I can tell I've connected it to the right box this time but I keep getting the same error: pix_filmDarwin: no method for 'open/Users/samwoodcock/ONOMATOPOEIA...
The openpanel part of my screenworks2blob.pd works fine and the only thing I've changed is the filename message. The problem must be the open message or the bang but I don't know what else I need to do to make it work. I've only been using pd for a short time and I don't know why the openpanel patch works with pixfilm but the open message doesn't. Is there another object I need to include? Does anyone know what the 'method' I need to use to open my quicktime file is, other than openpanel? I know this must seem really obvious to people have used pd for a while but it doesn't seem to make any sense to me whatsoever. I just need a specific help example for opening quicktime files but the ones I've looked at haven't been much use.
any ideas would be great. Sam
GEM VIDEO loading and manipulating.
I've just started using pure data. I'm using PD & gem on MAC OSX tiger 10.3.9
All I'm trying to do at the moment is open a quicktime video or final cut pro video file but I can only get the sound.
I need to know how to get gem to project my quicktime video onto a single rectangle that I can move about so that I can set up a split screen. I'm intending to also use another live video feed in gem at the same time.
Also when I use the auto $1 message it says argument out of range. What exactly is an argument?!
any help whatsoever would be much appreciated.
I attached my load file which loads up the sound but no video. It also plays loads of weird colours so I think it might be playing a small fraction of the screen or something.
GEM multiple videos?

PiDiP pdp on Demudi 1.2.1
After some experience i found better compromise about codec, i use transcode to encode in quicktime in yv12 codec, then the [pdp_qt] object for play, for now it is what give me better quality, with lowest processor occupation.

this is a program to record anything on your screen, kinda like a quicktime version of screen capture
Error: GEM: pix\_film: unable to open file
there is a LOT of stuff about quicktime on the mailing list. just seacrh quicktime, and you may find what you're looking for
sorry if you already tried that and i'm not helpful
Play video files with gem?
hello again!
sorry,
I redraw my question - I've misunderstood the object "pix_film" which actually does play quicktime. so I continue porting my max/jitter work to pd and will presumably be back with 'real' questions soon
