hi i'm new to this forum (and also quite new with pd to) so excuse me if i do things wrong. it's been a month, or something like that since I experiment with pure data using audio only. Now I'd like to go deeper in this software and use video but i'm stuck at installing GEM (i've not been so far ). I folowed instructions that are writen on the pd website and never achieve my objective. i tired both with linux and windows but bad luck probably. I think I know my mistakes with linux plus has I saw there is a GEM pakage for debian but I really love to use GEM in windows...

Gem is installed easily as part of Pd-extended 0.43.4 (it is installed automatically at the same time!....)
http://puredata.info/downloads/pd-extended and choose the windows download. The "installation" version will be easiest to set up afterwards. You will be enjoying Gem within 60 seconds......
Unless you wish to use the more "up-to-date" vanilla version of Pd that is the simplest solution.
Especially if you are new to Pd.........

thank you for your quick reply pd extend is no longer suported. is this such a bad thing for a begenier like me ? I have also another question i saw diferent version of pd with different gui is there any one better to use ?

@Master_Chang Hello again.......... wait a little while for other people to reply maybe..... BUT..... all versions of Pd are free and you can install / uninstall as you wish....... even the "installer" version for windows is not a real "installation". The files stay in their folder in the program (x86) folder and very few paths are added.
If you want gem for windows then extended is the simplest way to obtain it.
Personally I use that version (the last, from 2013) all the time, and I have not seen anything more useful in the vanilla version for windows as yet.....
There will be a fully working 64-bit vanilla available one day, and that will be interesting for some purposes (for audio).
Some flavours have bent (pretty) connections between objects (but that is not available for windows)...... etc. etc. etc..........
Thanks to open-gl Gem is (was, sorry) very advanced for its time. It is still very good!.......
