I'm running PD-0.43.4 extended on windows 7 32-bit.

So I set up my midi via midiyoke (i also tried loopmidi in case midiyoke was the prob, but no dice) to an external softsynth (tried vst and standalone), and went into the test midi window. I press the button to test midi, and PD triggers my softsynth, great.

Here's the issue - I flip the switch to turn the midi test note off, but no note-off gets sent out, so the note just holds and holds.

This problem persists if I try to use makenote object too.

Someone help! I was so excited about PD but now I'm ready to throw my computer against the wall ugh

Anyway a note off is just a note on with a zero velocity, so you should get rid of it quite easily... Nau

@bo_g Hi! Sorry to hear about your problem. If you are generating notes using [makenote] remember that the third inlet as well as the second argument sets the duration for your MIDI note (i.e the time between noteon and noteoff messages). In other words, have you tried setting a second argument or using the third inlet to control duration?

Is the notein connected to stripnote because stripnote removes the noteoff

Well, if he is having troubles even with the MIDI testing patch that comes with Pd then the problem is likely not about patching but rather some configuration/conflict. Unfortunately I don't have any ideas of what may be causing that.

I think you might have a midi feedback loop somewhere.
If you choose "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" for your MidiOut you will find that it works correctly.
I am using Windows 7 as well, without problems.
Midi Test is sending every message correctly, and maybe they are not received or interpreted properly by your synth?
Here is a picture of what is actually sent by "midi test".........
......so I think you need to look at your synth, or whether you have a loop somewhere in your midi chain?

Hey all, thanks so much for your willingness to help. I switched over to Vanilla and am not experiencing this problem any more. Extended was giving me so much grief - wouldn't let me use asio4all, would stop letting me move objects with the mouse in unlocked mode after a few minutes. None of these problems have appeared in Vanilla.

So, if any one out there is having a problem like mine, just go with vanilla install and get libraries as you need them (I've been advised to use deken for this).
