Hi, I just began working with Pure Data, and I want to make a multichannel audio player for 4 different signals (2 stereo wav playback files) but I needed it to be with xlr balanced outputs, standalone and can load files from an sd. I've researched and I've found that I need 4 dac on my embedded hardware, that is for each output signals, I've also found that the raspberry pi 2 is usefull for my project, because of its price and processing power, sd port and pure data support. But I can't find any board that has 4 dac or extention board that has them (any that works with) , can you recommend me a board that has them, works with pure data, low cost, can read files from an sd and could work as a stand alone unit?

You can use a professional usb connected soundcard with XLR connectors (expensive), or a cheaper usb connected multichannel soundcard and make some adapter cables.
The Raspberry pi has the usb problems solved apparently, but you will need to research sound card compatability with the rpi before you buy.

However, I would recommend a cheap second-hand laptop (xp? 7?) as being more reliable and useful (appologies to rpi fans.), and much easier to get working with the sound card. It will probably be about the same cost as well by the time you have finished your project.
I do the same thing for one of my clients. But it has evolved, and now as well as the playback with click the laptop now does a complete monitor mix for the whole band, with eq etc. which they control from tablets on stage. I cannot imagine trying to do that on a pi.

@whale-av Thanks mate!, the idea of making an stand alone unit is to bypass the use of external laptops and usb interfaces, and design a "machine" that is just plug and play
