I tried to create my own abstraction [beats-per-minute]

I almost successfully mimicked the Cheetomoskeeto YouTube Pd #16 tutorial on Simple Abstractions.

However, there were no visible file addresses in my search window, I had to press "new" in order to trigger a search for the beats-per-minute file.

I added, this, and [beats-per-minute] worked, but then I could not use traditional objects like [bng].

I deleted the file in the preferences window, and it works fine now.

I am using an Intel chip Macbook Pro

Do you have any advice about file structure / installation of Pd?

Try [declare], it should work. If your abstraction is in a folder in a directory which is the same as your patch, then [declare -path ./abstractions] should work (if the folder with your abstraction is called 'abstractions'). If both abstraction and patch are in different folders, which folders are in the same directory then [declare -path ../abstractions] (./ is the present directory and ../ the parent directory). Or you can also use absolute paths, like [declare -path /Users/yourusername/pd_patches/abstractions], if you have a folder called 'pd_patches' which is in your home directory, and in there you have a folder called 'abstractions' where you have your abstraction.
