I have been using 0.42.5-extended for a while now in conjunction with open_cv/pix_opencv and GEM with no problems. Today I installed 0.43.4-extended and there are LOTS of objects missing from the library (even really NB ones like [noteout]!!, as well as strange camera issues with GEM (tiny video rendering in one corner that is always on max zoom out), no recognition of the pix_opencv libraries which I have installed and compiled according to the instructions @ Open_CV. I did this same process with 0.42.5 and it worked.

I have attached a txt file of the console output on load in case this would help any boffins who might be able to assist. I could always revert back tot he older version...

I also checked the debugger but there doesn't seem to be this problem listed - maybe I am missing something...

You need to delete your preferences file. Pd 0.43 is trying to read the preferences file for 0.42, and they don't seem to be friendly with each other. Once you delete it, 0.43 will use the one that is built into it.

Also, 0.43 doesn't let you change the default loaded libraries anymore, so you'll have to use [import] or namespaces to load non-default libs like open_cv.

ok - thanks. I managed to solve the preferences problem, so I'm not getting errors on load anymore.

Still battling with the import of libraries. I saw your post about setting up libraries in 0.43, added the files to /library/pd and restarted PD. Then try import, it still doesn't recognise pix_opencv.

If I type [import pix_opencv] that should do it? or?
The files in the /library/pd folder are all labelled pix_opencv_name.pd_darwin for example.

mmm - now I can't get my camera to work AT ALL in this version. It works fine in photobooth or quicktime or anything else and as per usual perfectly in 0.42.5 on my Macbook. Not sure if I'm liking this...

I tried running the TUIO .pd demo while running Reactivision this am (a system which I am using a lot for research on 0.42.5 with no problems). I get the following error: see attached.

I think I'm going to have to remove 0.43.4 and go back to 0.42.5 for now. Too many problems with this release.

well, after much frustration (I spent about 4 hours fiddling yesterday), I reverted back to 0.42 this morning. I just couldn't get video to work at all or install libraries in the new version in-spite of the advice.

I deleted all the preferences and completely removed 0.43 and installed 0.42.5 which I also have on my Macbook and works perfectly with my firewire camera. For some STRANGE reason since 0.43, the live video feed into GEM from the camera is now extremely slow. I've tried fiddling with fps rates, changing the size in [dimen] etc., but the feed is painfully slow! I attach the console output on [create]

PLEASE help me?

ok, deleting prefs helped everything for me. (pd-extended-0.43.4 x osx.6.8)

Glad that worked Johnny - I still have the problem of extremely slow video feed now into GEM since this debacle. I really do not know how to solve it.
