I have set up a patch with multiple output channels, and using an RME Fireface UC sound card. I originally had just two output channels: dac~ 1 2 then increased it to four output channels: dac~ 1 2 3 4 . Strangely, when I added the two additional output channels I got the channel 3 and 4 output on software outs 5 and 6 RME. Seemed strange, but it worked. Then I go to a different location and use another of the SAME exact RME card on my computer. Now I can't for the life of me get more than 2 outs. If I send to 3 and 4 dac outs, it just shows up on 1 and 2. Yes, i do have number of outs set to 4 on the "Media" setup, same as before. It's not the mixer setup. I updated the drivers on the newer soundcard to current (even more current than on the original sound card that worked). Firmware too. Still no dice. I tried setting the number of inputs to 4 as well. I tried using two separate output objects: dac~ 1 2 and dac~ 3 4, or one single one dac~ 1 2 3 4. I tried a few other things but no dice. Any ideas anyone?

I have a RME soundcard, and I have the same kind of problems...

one thing I figured out is that you have to make sure to click "yes" if you get that total mix dialog coming up from the RME about settings being different between your machine and the card. I guess if you click "no" it tries to configure pd to follow whatever it thinks the last used settings on the RME were, but if you click "yes" it takes your audio settings from your configuration and uploads those to the card.
also you can use startup flags to force pure data to maintain its audio configuration settings...my problem is that I am changing them a lot, and I havent been able to tell if my problem is still there - that is, that after I set it up for 8.1, for example, doesnt constantly try to return to the startup configuration...but it seems to be be better, at least for now

Only thing I found that works is using 0.43.4. That works for me for >2 channels, no problem. RME Fireface UC, WIndows 7.
