Hi, I'm a GEM newbie and I have a question.

How do I trim(cut out) an image?

I've tried to find an object that can do this, but only resizing an image was the closest I could get.

The reason I want to trim/cut an image is because whenever I move an image in GEM window, it disappears when center point of an image gets outside of GEM window.

So I'm trying to actually trim an image as much as it moves outside of GEM window.

Will this be a wise solution or any recommendations?

this center point thing sounds a bit weird to me, could you please attach a patch demonstrating the issue?

It means for example if I load an 800 X 800 pixel sized image, the center point of an image is at (400,400) inside.

So what I meant was when I move an image in GEM window, and trying to move it away from the visible area of GEM window so I cannot see it, It already disappears at the point where I can still see half size of an image.

I'm trying to make an animation, for example it starts from a blank screen and 1 second later, an image of a soccer ball that was originally placed outside of GEM window, rolls into the screen as if someone kicked it from outside of the GEM window.

I will attach my patch if you still don't get it.

well, i've never experienced that behaviour before. here's a quick patch, give it a try. if it doesn't display properly on your system we can file a bug report.

I've just tested out your patch and it all worked fine.

But when I switch [pix_texture] with [pix_draw], I could still find problems I've mentioned.

I'm using [pix_draw] in my patch, because I need to load images in their actual size.

I've attached the same patch but with [pix_draw] object.

my advice is to get rid of [pix_draw]. you can load images in their actual size by using [pix_texture] as well, you just need to find the relative coordinates. see attached patch.

now i am having the same kind of problem, not with pictures, but with text.
Whenever a text rendered by [text2d] is moved by [translateXYZ] so that its centerpoint gets out of the picture, it disappears.

I want to use [text2d] instead of [text3d] because of [text2d]s antialiasing features ([text3d] is quiet ugly projected to a bigger screen, also [FSAA 1(-[gemwin] message doesn't help it )

any ideas?

Thanks for the answer. I use [text3d] now, not antialiased. Looks quite good when moving actually. I also use [pix_crop] for different things...
