I remember there used to be an issue with OSX but, under Mac OS 10.5 are there any problems with multi-channel output (via USB audio peripheral) i.e. if I buy a multi out for an ibook can I route with just a simple dac~ 1 2 3 4 5

I'm yet to experience Pd on OSX that much, so any experience would be awesome (before I take the money-plunge).

Don't know about the pd issue, but about that soundcard, i remember a friend of mine had one but it was rather on the noisy side. If i were you i'd watch some better ones on ebay (e.g. an old motu 828, m-audio1010,...). Especially the older editions of some popular cards (who usually don't support all the nifty software/mixer features) can be found for cheap. With a bit of luck you can do real bargains at times.
