So I've been playing around with loopers lately, having lots of fun looping a small part of a pad, played back really really slowly, with delay, so you can get this beautiful atmosphere going.

Then i shoved a drum loop in one day and slowed it down.
"Holy crap... this doesn't sound the way it used to..."

For a second, i was reminded of merzbow by the granulated sounds i could hear. And of course the next obvious step was some overdrive.
And then a accompanying pad to go along.

Talking on irc while doing so, a friend asked me to show him the sounds, which i then went through and recorded.
While adding parts to the patch as i went.(theres a crazy delay that pops up in the middle, which i had to then work some controls out for)

For some reason the pad cuts out early, and i realise now why, because i hadnt connected its delay up to the [writesf].
So my nice fading pad is gone and now just a quick cutout of the drums with some silence at the end.

Anyway, for your enjoyment/tourture i present.

(as i said, i recorded it on the fly, whilst writing the patch itself, which is probably not the best technique. i may re-record it or do some post production on this track at a later date)

I'm going to be making my way to Japan around the end of the year, you wouldn't know where I could hit up some noise gigs would you?

i'm friends with a lot of bands, and one thing i hear is that touring japan can be amazing - it's small enough that you can do a solid week and still cover most of the country. check around blogs i guess, try to find forums or something dedicated to the scene there - you might need a translator, but i'd expect that you can find enough information on venues/booking agents/etc. with some clever browsing and asking around. IRC can always be useful for this kind of thing since there's a lot of people from all over the world that use it. I'm in this myspace group, http://groups.myspace.com/sukiyaki , maybe check the artists on there and see what venues they play. find some prominent current japanese noise artists and look up their past fliers / bulletins / etc. on myspace or other similar sites.

sorry to be long-winded but this kind of stuff is awesome - i'm friends with a lot of booking agents here as a sound guy, and in general lots of different folks in the "scene", so i'm always willing to give any advice i can... i guess what i'm getting at is local scenes are usually tight enough that if you find the right band or person or whatever they can lead you to contacts you're looking for.

yeah, get you a gig in osaka for sure, and also one down here in fukuoka if you make it this far.

You weren't quite clear, but am i right to assume you are living there?

Primarily this will be a holiday with my family(they are paying, so i wont complain) but im looking to do some stuff on my own while im there, so a "tour" as it were, is most probably out of the question, but one night I could do.

But on track to my original intentions of the thread.
Anyone have any suggestions of what i should add to this track? or just something for future reference on how I could improve the sounds I'm making?
