It seems that 2023 will see the forum spammed more than in the past.
I check at least twice a day..... and ten new users have been deleted so far this month.
That is a lot..... in the same 7 days there have been 6 new users that are, or probably are genuine.
You will unfortunately see the ones that post, rather than adding a promotional link to their profile, but not for long....

@whale-av Should we change the anti-spam question or it is a lost cause?
"To send the sound to your sound card in pd, what object do you use (write it without the ~ and bracket)" -
@EEight I think it's a lost cause..........
It is impossible to set a question that will only be answered by a genuine forum user.
Whatever test you set will be answered by the first response from a search engine.It is easy to delete them, and all their posts are deleted as they disappear...... which helps.
There could be thousands that are just waiting to do a dos attack. I deleted hundreds a few years ago that had similar email names...... sdfgh3jkl2 sdfgh4jkl3 etc. .... so fairly obvious.
But I cannot imagine that anyone would bother.
If the number climbs to hundreds a day (or more..!) then maybe look for another solution.
The only solution I can think of would be membership by referral.... fine for students and artists maybe but terrible for anyone else.
I would not be here with such a restriction.

@EEight Maybe you could add a message to the landing page..... something like....
"This Forum is actively monitored.
If you post spam, SEO links, or links to a website that we consider to be outside the interests of forum members, your user profile and posts will be deleted."I doubt that spammers automate the creation of new users.
