I'm using the following patch sampler.pd prac.pd
In the prac patch I use multiple instances on sampler.

I intend to use the monome grid interface with the patch. Right now this means I need an instance of sampler in prac.pd to know what row and/or column on the grid is available ?

How can I use pure data to do this?...for example within prac.pd I have the subpatch 'sampler 1' can the one of this subpatch be somehow indicate the 1st row on the monome?

this may be clear here: I have linked the subpatch sampler. Within the patch prac.pd sampler is named "sampler 1" and there's also "sampler 2". Inside an instance of sampler I need to send a single to a row on a 16 * 16 hardware grid called Monome and you can see the message /monome/grid/led/row 0 1 0 0 or /monome/grid/led/set $1 1 1. I was hoping somehow I can use the number in the instance of 'sampler' ( so in this case 'sampler 1' or 'sampler 2' to then allocate a row. Using /monome/grid/led/row 0 $1 0 0 or
/monome/grid/led/set $2 $1 1 ....$1 doesnt take the value from 'sampler 1' and so I don't think its equates to 1? why is this?prac.pd sampler.pd

its would make sense to me that /monome/grid/led/row 0 1 0 0 should instead be /monome/grid/led/row 0 $1 0 0 so sampler 1 is associated with a particular row but using $1 doesn't work in the same way here? I can't leave it as 0 1 0 0 because every iteration of sampler would use it?

A $ in a message is replaced by incoming lists. $1 is replaced by the first in the list $2 the second etc.
If a list [2 4 6 8( comes into a message [$4 $3 $2 $1( the message sent on will be [8 6 4 2(
Dollars in lists can do just about any complicated stuff you want in Pd.
They are well worth getting your head wrapped around.

I tried what you've shown my here. $1 is the number of sampler so in this case one is in the correct place. Its in exactly the same place as the one in /monome/grid/led/row 0 1 0 0 .and is the same value but for some reason this message doesn't work? currently look like so...In every case of $1 I need one to be referring to the number given to sampler

@Fauveboy Please zip the whole patch and upload the zip and I will fix it for you according to what you have written. Any comments you can put on the patch about what is supposed to happen (what the parts of the messages mean for the monome) would be useful as I don't have a monome.

@Fauveboy Well, I have changed what you asked for, and made a few comments, and corrected what I am pretty certain is an error...... in......

I think you should try attaching a [print] to each monomer message box in turn so as to see in the Pd terminal what is actually being sent....... probably in sampler 2 would be best so you can see it actually sending the 2 in the right place.
