I build a pure data, raspberry pi drumcomputer/synthesizer. The DAC is a hifiberry with extremely low latency. I used korg midicontrollers and it worked wonderfull. But now I am trying to get into my custom midi controller and start to learn arduino.
I followed this fanastic resource (https://github.com/alexdrymonitis/Arduino_Pd) and also read the Arduino for Pd'ers-Guide which was very good guide an helped setting up a first test. I connected two buttons and it works good but it has a horrible latency. It isn't my soundcard. But it seems that the serial information comes with a delay. Does anyone have an idea?

very hard to say without looking at your code but i would guess that its either on the arduino side (inefficiant code, using delay etc) or maybe your baud rate settings dont match?

If you're using the default exaples from GitHub, and you're using [serial_print], then you're using a 9600 baud rate. You can change the baud rate to 57600 or 115200 to get better results.
Bear in mind though that using Serial.print() is significantly slower than Serial.write(), cause the later sends raw bytes, while the former translates everything to its ASCII values. So, if you want to sent the value 100 with Serial.write(), the Arduino will just send one byte, whereas with Serial.print() it will send three bytes, the values 49, 48, 48 (ASCII for 1, 0, 0).
