Rotation on individual particles whitin a particlesystem
thanks,
however, i (i'm the same user as somi) had a particle system with gravity, orbits, velocities etc. already working when i posted this.
my problem is, that all the particles in a system are always oriented in the same direction.
let's say you'd want to have a swarm of flies as a particle system and would use a .obj model as one fly, all flies in my swarm would always face in the same direction.
when working with textured rectangles or models, that obviously can look a bit lame.
what i was hoping for, was a sort of rotation-jitter on each individual particle.
for now i use a repeater chain, with each new source being rotated differently...not quite the same.
btw: if you use "post reply" in the lower right below the last post of a thread, you can attach attachments.
when posting with the field "Quick post" you dont't have that option.

I can't locate files like Gem-meta.pd or Gem.pd_linux on the computer;
I keep investigating, but any hint is welcome, thanks
Pd really slow on Ubuntu Studio
hi, I've been trying to install Pure Data in different ways (fedora, pure:dyne) with some success but always there was something wrong (like GEM missing). So I immediately installed Ubuntu studio when I came across it. Now I've installed Pure Data true the Add/Remove program but it works like ****. And also with the .DEB file from puredate.org. If you click on new window it takes a really long time to open, if you want to close a window it freezes. After a long time this shows up:

Does someone know how to fix this? Is there anybody with the same problem, or could it be my computer configuration? I don't think so (standard Ubuntu studio 9.04 Jaunty and Pure Data has worked fast on my laptop, different platform) Would really like to get this fixed and get started with Pure Data.

Tracking sample \# during playback?
yeah, do you want a constant stream of values with the current position, or do you just need to be able to bang for specific values?
for the first, as domien said, [line] will help.. you can add a creation argument, like [line 0 1] to make it more accurate (check the helpfiel if yoU want more info)
if you just need to bang to find the current position, then you can get current position in ms, using [realtime] (or [timer], i can never remember the difference between those, again check the helpfile). then multiply the current position in ms by 1000 to get the position in seconds, and then multiply by the samplerate to get the current position in samples.
Getting started with Gem???
This is what it shows when I first open Pd (without opening any patches):

I see that it is saying "Gem: can't load library" so that probably explains why it isn't working, but I didn't delete anything since I first installed it. I could probably try re-installing it. Do you think that would do me any good, or should I try something else first?
Success! Arduino to PD video! PLUS Problem loading Libraries - help!!
The saga continues...
I did what you said to do, hardoff, and now I get this message when starting Pd-extended:

So, a lot of things seem to have loaded, a lot of stuff does seem to work like cyclone objects, but I still can't get the oscx objects to work, which is what I war really hoping for. So, it is mostly a success but still some frustrating problems exist. Thank you for your help!
