I was wondering how I might automate a midi control using line. I've been able to assign it to go to 127 with a message and line, and then another message for 127 to 0. I'd like to have it ramp up and down continually, though, go from 0 to 127 to 0, indefinitely or until I stop it.
Any ideas? What I've tried, thus far, doesn't work.

I've been, without success, trying to get pd and arduino talking within Vista. Pduino kept crashing, so I tried SMS and at first had no luck. I followed instructions and then opened the simplemessagesystem pd patch and, like Pduino, it crashed. But I try again and, voila, it works. I had an led in pin 13 which I toggle on in pd patch. Light comes one. Close and redo---- to verify it works--crashes as before. Try again, works one more time. Subsequent tries produce original crash. I'm doing the exact same procedure each time. I'm a bit frustrated. Any ideas why it works only a few times out of many attempts?

I was wondering if anyone might know why arduino.test won't open in Windows. I've successfully uploaded "standard firmata" to arduino (duemilanove). When I attempt opening the arduino.test patch, Windows throws out a message saying it needs to close PD.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the output of PD patches into Ableton? Vista is the os. I haven't found anything too substantial on the net. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I think that construction will work. I will try it here shortly and see if there are more solutions.

I use the midi control object. I can get it to ramp slowly up to 127 value and through a message I can get it to ramp down. But I haven't found away that will automate it. Essentially, when the value reaches 127, I'd like it to trigger the down ramp and devalue to 0, and then at 0 re-trigger the up-ramp--ad naseum. Thanks, for the suggestions, much appreciated.

I use an external audio interface from presonus-- a firebox. My main interest is in recording music, so I needed a better soundcard than would be supplied with a general pc. These interfaces always come with their own drivers. There is no need for you to worry about ASIO drivers if your not using an ASIO device. But, I would recommend an external interface/soundcard if you are interested in recording or using your computer as an DAW.

I don't know for certain if this is the proper way but I went to Startup, under file in pd, and just typed save all settings as a new entry. Now when I start pd, my asio setting is saved. One thing though, it doesn't seem to save my latency settings--still defaults to 70.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually looked at Jack for Windows and it's a bit out of my league. I have know idea how to set it up or even what to do with it.
