    Hey there,

I was wondering if it's possible to create a bandpass filter that really cuts everything except the center frequency. A friend of mine wants to use certain frequencies of sounds so he can use them for visualizations that he creates himself.
So he asked for my help, seeing i don't know enough about pd to create a spectrum analyzer wich can send certain bands to outputs i want to get the same effects using multiple bandpass filters.

The problem is the [bp~] and vcf~ object in pd still leave the other frequencies intact, they just reduce them. Is it possible?

    Thanks in advance

    Hey there,

I know this probably isn't the right place to post this but i couldn't find a jackaudio forum that quick. I have re-installed windows 7 ultimate on my notebook merely 16 hours ago, and now i want to install jack, since i use it to route pure data to ableton.

Everytime i download the installation file and try to open it it tells me this:

''The file is corrupted. It was downloaded with errors or otherwise damaged. Please download it again and make sure you do not have viruses.''

I've tried downloading it with IE, Chrome, Firefox, windows firewall turned on/off. I'm kinda running out of options here.

I hope someone can help me with this even if this is a pure data forum.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

I'm new to this forum and relatively new to pd.
Currently I am in a pre-year for a bachelor education composition and music technology in the Netherlands. For the pas 8 months we have been working with pure data so i learned some of the basics.

For our last assignment (one that will more or less determine if you get accepted to the bachelor) we have to combine audio design and software. So we have to record some acoustic instruments and prefereably process them with patches we wrote ourselves in pure data. Fact is, i have been working on a midi patch, it was a beatmasher/looper that sends midi notes to loopslices in an external daw. But havent really got into the audio part, let alone creating effects.

For my project i would like to make a rather advanced reverb (so not the [freeverb] object because i feel you cant adjust it that much) or a delay that has multiple controls in it, feedback, dry wet, tempo etc.

But there are two things that would really be great. The first one is to make a patch that can filter certain frequencies out or let them pass through, so you can, let's say, filter harmonics from a recorder guitar.
And last but not least, i ran into a spectral delay patch just now and that would just be the best thing i can imagine, only i realise that just might be a little too far out of reach.

Now to get down to my question; I would like to know where i can find some tutorials or info how to make one or more of these effects, and any other advice is welcome as well.

    just tried it like this:

    [vd~]
    |\ slider 0 to 1 [adc~]
    | \ / |
    | [*~] |
    | |_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [delwrite~ 1000]
    |
    [dac~]

and that seemed to work. Only couldnt do it your way exactly because i cant connect the [*~] to

So i finally did it, well sort off. I created my own filter delay (attachment) only problem is, i would like to control the feedback(how many times they repeat themselves) of each separate channel, so the two left delays and the two right ones individually.

I am thinking it has something to do with the [*~] object, but in every way i use it either doesn't work or the just amplitude is increased.

Thanks guys. I know maelstorm, i was kind of missing the point indeed. I talked to one of my teachers and he advised that building a reverb yourself might be a little to advanced so he suggested i should rather focus on a delay line, so i am messing around with that now.

Still want to use that spectral delay line though -->

But i have read into FFT and rFFt and that's also quite intense for someone who has been using pd for a short time. :P

Well, I sort of tried it like that, when i open a patch (look in attachment) I see inlet~ and outlet~ but it seems a bit weird to replace all of those - including the ones in subpatches - with adc~ and dac~ because there quite many of them in some cases.
And some have a ~ at the end and some don't ([Inlet~] / [Inlet])

thanks for helping me out guys
