According to me as per my experience with the PD Extended the problem may be with the object [mux~] but not with [multiplex~].
Also but I think that there are two objects in the Extended libraries called [mux~], so PD sometimes gets confused and creates the wrong one.
Must try by creating the object [multiplex~] instead of [mux~] if you're using Extended.
