Hi everyone.
I'm planing on creating a patch that redirects some audio files to 10 different guitar amps.
My idea is to buy an audio interface with 10+ outputs.
I already did it with 4 outputs (with the Native Instruments Traktor Audio 2 DJ // that has 2 stereo outputs), it works fine.My question is, has anyone tried it before? Isn't there a limitation about how many outputs you can set up? I'd like to make sure everything is possible before buying some expensive stuff...
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi everyone.
I would like to know if there is a way to get the width of a text generated with text3d (after sending it a font and a font size).
I would like to avoid the calculation of counting how many letters receives the text3d object multiplied by the width of each letter (which usually varies from letter to letter)...
Thanks if you can help. -

I finally found the solution and made it work.
My main mistake was about compiling the ola2pd object with flext.
in the readme.txt, there was a part I didn't understand first, so I skipped it :"For Ubuntu there is an aditional compilation step. Ubuntu's gcc has a option making buils.sh doesn't link correctly the OLA library.
You can copy the last command of the build.sh terminal output and change the option -lola to the end of the command."That was the solution for compiling ola2pd, then after that the pd object worked.
Then start OLA, and start configuring it here http://localhost:9090
The important part (and I lost a lot of time because of it) was to disable the "Enttec Open DMX Plugin" and "Serial USB Plugin", then enable the "FTDI USB DMX Plugin".
I added an output device/port (called FT232R USB UART in my case), then after that I was able to control the lights by using the DMX Console / DMX Monitor (still in http://localhost:9090)In Pd, the object ola2pd is really easy to use (see the help file) and does the same job as the DMX Console.
Done!

Yeah, I'm still searching. I will also post if I find some clues.
Thanks again! -

QSC
I don't know what QSC is.
Are you talking about "QLC"?
If so, I'd like to avoid having it running at the same time. Of course if I really have no choice I will go in that way. -

My idea is to send some datas from Pd to the OpenDMX (so I can play with the lights).
I can do the job using a software like QLC. I want to be able to do the same with Puredata only. I'm pretty sure it's possible... -

Thank you very much for your help!
Yes, I know where the go2enttec-ex-console.pd comes from!
https://wiki.labomedia.org/index.php/Pure_Data_vs_Enttec_Pro (exactly, no problem about french...)
I checked this page and tried to make it work, but as expected, it's for the Enttec USB DMX Pro, and it doesn't work for the Enttec OPENDMX USB.I also checked your patch (very interesting by the way)
So the message that you send to [comport] is something like [126 6 1 2 0 v1 v2 v3 v4 .... 231(
For the OpenDmx, I'm not sure [comport] works, but if so, the message to send should be different, but I have no idea how to know about it.
I did a lot of research on the Internet, no clue at all...I installed the drivers, and I can use the OpenDMX with QLC.
My only problem now is to find the way to communicate between Pd and OpenDMX. -

Hi everyone.
I'm trying to make my DMX interface (Enttec OpenDMX USB) work with Pd.
I read a lot of things about it, and probably the best way to make it work would be by using Open Lighting Architecture (https://www.openlighting.org/ola/)
I'd like to avoid using something like QLC if possible.
By the way, I'm on Linux (Ubuntu).I found this external http://puredata.info/Members/santi/ola2pd/
which seems to be perfect for me.
I tried to follow all the steps (installing Ola, compiling Flext), but the object Ola2pd is not recognized by Pd.
As they suggested, I tried to compile it myself by using Flext. It works, but still, the object Ola2pd is not recognized in pd.
I received the message "undefined symbol: _ZTIN3ola6client17BaseClientWrapperE"Any idea of what I could do?
Or do you know if some other externals exist for doing the job? Thanks in advance if you can help

Thanks in advance for your help. -

This is very interesting. It totally get it now.
Thanks a lot for this long and clear explanation. -
Octopoulpe
It's interesting, thanks.
I'm also curious about what triggers the Stack Overflow. -
Octopoulpe
Awesome! Thanks a lot for spending time on my problem!
Now it works perfectly!
I still don't totally get it, why in my case it worked until the 248th line...
But anyway, thanks a lot! -

Here is an example.
When I put the content of the [textfile] in the object, I receive the message "stack overflow".
After, when I try to read too many lines (more than 248), I receive the message "ptrobj_next: no current pointer" (but it makes sense because not the lines have been written) -
Octopoulpe
It's basically numbers.
The content of my text files looks like this:0 0 200,
-1 -1 0,
-1 -1 0,
-1 -1 0,
-1 -1 0,
5 2 8,(it's a basic example, I have some text files with a way more columns)

Hi everyone.
I use the [struct] and [pointer] objects to store datas from a CSV text file (by using the [textfile] object).
I never had problems before, but I just discovered that it's not possible to store more 248 lines of datas.
Is there a way to increase this limit, or another way to store datas without limitation?
Thanks in advance if you can help.
