All,
Ico from VT pointed me to another library pointed me to a library of more recent deb files for Pd-L2ork. It is at this address:
http://l2ork.music.vt.edu/data/pd/
I had problems with the posted deb file you were referring to but this one worked much better. There were a few additional libraries to install but I was ble to get it working.

EEight,
I have libjack-dev installed but not libjack-jackd2-dev installed. I was concerned about messing up Jack configuration on kxstudio. The libjack-jackd2-dev removes the old jack1 packages and reinstalls the new version. I'm a bit worried that it will mess with my Jack setup on the kxstudio. I like the integration with Cadence and I'd like not to mess this up.
Does your kxstudio system use jack2? If so, does it work with Cadence?
Thanks again for your troubles.

EEight,
Thanks very much for responding. I tried to rebuild disabling portaudio and I have the same problem. Here is a full listing of the output from the ./configure command.
Again, I really appreciate the help.

Hi all,
I tried building version 0.46-5 of pure data vanilla on kxstudio 14.04 and I came across a problem that during the running of the "./configure --enable-jack" command. The problem appears to be related to "portaudio."
checking machine/soundcard.h presence... no checking for machine/soundcard.h... no checking for _oss_ioctl in -lossaudio... no ./configure: line 15407: syntax error near unexpected token `JACK,' ./configure: line 15407: ` PKG_CHECK_MODULES(JACK, jack, have_jack=yes, have_jack=no)' configure: error: ./configure failed for portaudio
Prior to this I ran "./autogen.sh". I'd appreciate any assistance in getting this to work.
Thanks,
Mitch Kaufman
