I appreciate the vote of confidence, its the most daunting software I've ever used, but probably the most exciting.

Thanks for the link, will be sure to check that out.

At the moment, I'm working through these:

And just following the exercises in that manual to test myself.

    Thanks David. That/makes/sense/now.

Couple of other things I didnt realise - looks like I cant open file names with spaces (also makes sense). And looks like I can select some folders for Pd to search for in Preferences, to reduce need for subfolder backslash.

What Windows folder structure do i need to use for 'open [.wav]' to link to 'readsf~'? Does the soundfile need to be in Pd folder, or is a subfolder possible?

I keep getting message in main panel - dsp: 123.wav: no such file or directory'

    Thanks

if i create object 'gcanvas', i can move the inputs but the actual box stays in the same place (until I minimise/maximise). Is this a known issue?

    Ah sorted, thanks.

The dropdown misled me into thinking i need Alt as well.

New to pd, and working through tutorials -- for some reason ctrl+alt+E does not switch to editmode (I need to go through edit dropdown menu instead). Any way of switching this back on?
    Thanks
