    Hi

    This is a bit off topic --I have a few PD patches I want to share with the world some of which would be in zip files etc--does any one know a good file hoster?

    Thanks!

    here is a pd patch I made with Gem, it makes sound based on the colours of a loaded video file, so if a movie has allot of greens it makes one sound and a movie with allot of red makes another sound etc.

    It kinda works-i made it becuase I wanted to sync music with some Blender (GNU 3d app) animations

    comments/advice welcome! (^_^)

    Hi

    In Audacity (and maybe some other sound file editors) you can import raw data-like say a .png file or a mov file and it turns the data into sound (or noise rather)---Is there a way of doing this in PD?

    Thanks for your help! :)

    Hi

    I am having trouble using pdp_v4l, pixelTango and osc patch on PD-extended .38 on mac os x (tiger)

    If I try to load a PiDiP patch from the help file I get the following error message:

    pdp_v4l /dev/video RGB24
    ... couldn't create
    error: pdp_v4l: can't load abstraction within itself

    pdp_v4l

    pdp_help_input.pd 13 0 0 0 (bng->canvas) connection failed
    pdp_help_input.pd 35 0 0 0 (message->canvas) connection failed

    If I try to put OSC object i get this error:

    ... couldn't create
    OSC
    ... couldn't create

    And PixelTango crashes completely. Has anyone else experience these errors or maybe I have my start up path set up wrong or I need to add some thing?

    I deeply appricate your help and advise but I am at a loss!

    Thanks again ;)

    Hi
    Attached is a little patch Im working on to switch Gemheads/turn them off/set their rendering order. The toggle boxes turn the respective gemheads off and the numboxes set their rendering order...still a work in progress!

    Guido ....your a genius...kudos!

    I was thinking how to implement a depth of field in Gem all this week ...Im not a shader expert so I was thinking of sending a 3d object to a pix buffer-using pix_blur and then another object in the foreground that wasn't blurred- sort of a layering technique

    probably wouldn't of worked as well...:)

    Hey

    Im on Linux and the pdvj tools dont work for me either--you could try out mediagrid instead of video grid

    http://code.autistici.org/trac/planetQ/wiki/mediagrid

    and I have a pix_preview alternative that uses gridflow's [#see] object to send to gem- needs a bit of work

    this question comes up now and again...how to save gem activity as a .mov or .avi etc. --- it stumps me too so I tried work arounds like using gridflow objects like [#from_pix] and then record with [#record] ... now I just use screen recordings which as you say isn't the best but I wonder if someone could clarify 100 % how to use the [pix-record] object? Thanks all (ubuntu user so I don't think this is windows specific)
