    Excuse a newbie.

I am new to GEM and can't find the answer to my question. I have searched the forum with no luck.

I would like to align 4 different videos (short loops) in one GEM window. I want the movies to be like 4 small squares with space inbetween. One projector should then be able to project the 4 small-sized videos at the same time.

Further - I would like to be able choose from 4 different loops for each one of the square by using the output bang of the pix_film object.

Like a pattern-based sequencer for video loops.

Is it possible to have more than one movie canvas, square, in one GEM window?
If so, is it possible to positioning these squares?

I hope this is all clear, or maybe it simply can not be done.

I want to trigger my self made instruments from my pd-patch. The patch itself is quite cpu consuming so I need a simple way of doing this.
Is it possible to address 5V pulses to a midi port? Or do I have to go through the pduino-thing? Or another solution?

I am thankful for any replies.

    Hello,

This is my first post at this forum and i would be happy if someone can help me.

I am creating hardware sequencers with stepper motors. Now i have become intersested in PD again, it happens every now and then, and i am starting to learn how to use it. I have never worked out how to send data or anyting out to some external device.

I want to sync a sequencer that i have made in PD with my external stepper motor sequencers. Normally i feed the sequencers with 5V pulses to a stepper motor driver. I have no com port, but lots of USB ports.

Is there someway that i can output pulses through the usb port to an arduino which distributes the pulses to my stepper motor drivers (up to 4 pcs)?

    My sequencers look like this:

    thanks guido!

you are right about my gem skills. the reason i was tring to find a shortcut is that this is really a very small project.

-just plain playback of 4 videos and it became simple when i realised that it is possible to just add gemheads for additional video-rendering-chains.

then i found translateXYZ to positioning the movies in the gem window.

i got i yesterday by looking at mandril boxes.

    I have started to understand.

By using 4 gemhead objects and by positioning the pix_texture object with translateXYZ it can be done.
-easy when you know how to do it.

Does anyone have or know where i can find:
    Pduino 0.5beta8 and Firmata 2.1
    ?

    It would be great!

Thank you sonsofsol! That's it (as you pointed out from the beginning).
I haven't been able to reach at.or.at/hans/pd/objects.html yet.

sure this should work. but i think you cant plug the arduino directly to the stepper, you need a microcontroller inbetween, to contol the stepper.

then get firmata and you can directly control the stepper shield from pd.

    thanks for your reply.
i have already got drivers for the steppers. i just need one pulse train to each motor driver circuit.
what i want to do is this:
send "tagged" (by this i mean the possibility to use more than one tempo) bangs to an USB port from pd and use an arduino to read the USB port, decode and distrubute the tagged bangs to corresponding motor driver. is this understandable...
