Has anyone figured out why PD extended is no longer working on Mac OSX? It gives me some message that programs created on a PowerPC are no longer supported.

PD extended won't work-

@maxdavidson Hello there.......
You probably need to download the version for "intel".........
.... the first one in the list for Mac..... http://puredata.info/downloads/pd-extended

Yeah I did this many times now. When the new version (Mac OSX, Intel) is opened it won't create a new file when I click New.

@maxdavidson What kind of computer do you have and what OS ? What version of pd are you installing?
-
@maxdavidson Hello again..... as I own a Mac, but always boot to windows7 or Linux..... I am really tempted to advise you to do the same,,,,,,,
but...... that would be harsh...
Is it Pd or osx that gives you the message about unsupported PowerPC?
Does the intel version open old patches... i.e. is it only a new patch that cannot be created?
So the Pd terminal window is open and Pd is running?
Are there any other messages in the terminal window that might give some clues? Look at the window in log mode 4 (bottom right corner of the terminal).
Obviously there are a lot of people running Pure Data extended on a whole range of Apple hard and software........... and as no-one else has reported this problem (that I have seen) it might be a hard one to solve.
As @rjp9 says..... we need to know more about your system...
Patches are simply text files....... so your problem is a strange one.
Have you managed to know whether the OS is stopping Pd for unnecessary security issues (unauthorized app)?
What did you or apple do to cause this (I see that you were happily patching until recently).... or has nothing changed?

Well thanks for the help guys. Let me answer these questions here...
It (osx) originally gave me this message that because PD was created on a PowerPC PD was no longer supported. I haven't seen that message since I uninstalled several of the most updated version of PD.
I told you that it wouldn't create a new file, but actually it just won't do mostly anything. I can turn on/off the DSP, everything else is a no go --can't even type in the help menu.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled PD extended for MAC 0.43.4 several times now and each time I can get it to initiate but then not do anything like I said. So... my history with PD is as follows: downloaded PD vanilla, then downloaded Extended and extended worked for a while. I think the problem started when I upgraded to El Capitan (mac's newest OS). The patches I created in extended just stopped putting out audio. So I uninstalled and reinstalled (PowerPC message hit me) and now it's the same problem. I was working on a project and completed it with PD vanilla (which seems to work fine for me)
No messages in the terminal window.
I used to get messages asking me whether or not to trust this application as it was downloaded from the internet. But always answered yes. -
@maxdavidson Some links you can check out:

http://forum.pdpatchrepo.info/topic/7236/pd-extended-has-stopped-working-on-mac-help/11Also, make sure you have X11 installed. pd needs that to run. Used to be installed by default but every since OS 10.6 or so Apple stopped including it in their operating systems.

@maxdavidson
As Pd extended is actually starting the wish app and pd are talking to each other.
But pd is then "hung"........ so @rjp9's second link is likely.
But if that doesn't help then it could be an audio settings problem...... Pd extended trying to hook to your soundcard (or some other) with completely erroneous settings.
If you can find out how to start Pd from a terminal window (an OSX terminal window!) then you could try starting it with a "flag" that turns off all audio (not DSP... as you can do from the menu in pd... but all audio "settings")
The OSX terminal instruction would need to say something like..... "Exec= puredata-extended.app -noaudio" but you will have to google about for the exact line unless someone can post it here for you...
If it then starts working then you can reset your audio settings as they need to be from within Pd and reopen it normally after that.
