@henkbakr Hello there...... in what way is it "not working"?........
If it will not start at all then usually.... https://puredata.info/docs/faq/Pd_not_launching
That should get it running......
If you still have problems once it is running then let us know!
David.
Hello David-thanks for your reply, the latest pd version doesnt do anything at all. click on it and nothing happens. an older version (4) does try to boot, but after 17 secs it hangs. so says console, without further explaining why. i've looked at the local host file, this had the localhost addrs as in your default example (although the file did looked a bit different than the examples i've seen), didnt saw the error mssg you reffered too, when looking at the console for error msgs.
@henkbakr Hello again.
Have you had a version working on this machine before? If the localhost settings are not the problem ( and they still could be...... you need to google around for how to reset your localhost file to "factory settings") then problems are (almost always) with the audio settings.
If you can start Pd from osx "terminal" with the -noaudio and -nomidi flags then that might give you some clues........
There was a whole thread about this issue, but unfortunately it went awol........
David.
Hello David, I simply replaced the hosts file with the default example and now pd works. Cheers. the old line looked like: ##\n# Host Database\n#\n# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface\n# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.\n##\n127.0.0.1 localhost\n255.255.255.255 broadcasthost\n::1 localhost \nfe80::1%lo0 localhost
Oops! Looks like something went wrong!
