For some time I have been using MAX/MSP and I have been writing externals in Java and some JavaScript snippets to support my logic. However I am very keen on moving towards PD and I am looking for the best and easiest way to write code on Pure Data? What language is best supported etc? Any suggestions on how to best get started is appreciated.

pdlua allows one to write non-signal externals in lua.

Don't forget that pure data is built in the tk framework with a fair amount of tcl, and the tcl interpreter is embedded in the console window. Tcl is pretty damn useful it seems, I'm finding myself loving it. The community is pretty small, but It has a lot uses.
