I'm thinking of a project that invovlves mapping a moving geometrical object using infrared lights placed at the joints of object. I heard the Playstation 3 eye with a bit of tweaking can work good for tracking ir lights.
I'm not cerain in what shape do i want to map yet, i just like to get to know the technical parts early.

You might be better off with the xbox Kinect......... be careful about which version you buy. I don't know about the playstation eye, but here is a link for the Kinect, to a lot of information that will probably do what you wish........... and a lot more...... straight away!

Anybody knows a method to convert kinect depth map to a 3d object ? For instance if there's a meter large cube rotating, can the kinect recognise the model? Or if it comes to something more complex like a human face?

Hi there, I m looking for the exact same thing for a similar purpose: I want to use a kinect V2 to track a performer and generate sounds out of it.. : Is this possible at all on linux os? and with the kinect v2? dont want to hijack this post but guessing the answers will serve Vacskamati as well
