New to Pd, trying to dip my toes but instead I fear I've fallen into the deep end. Help a newbie swim.

I've gotten various patches to run and make sounds and everything was copacetic. Plugged in my Arturia Microbrute hoping to get some more tactile control. Headed over to https://puredata.info/docs/faq/midiinput and followed instructions however the pathway of Media>MIDI Settings causes Pd to crash every single time.

Should I uninstall & reinstall? That would be about as deep as my computer expertise goes.

Ideas?

MacOS 10.9.5
Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

@pztzr No........ you will need to get the settings right for the sound.... I am assuming here that the Arturia does sound as well? The problem will be that it crashes before you get a chance to change them because there is now a difference between the settings and the actual hardware.
Try starting Pd without any hardware attached, and turn audio off. Then close Pd, attach the hardware and start Pd again.

Oh man, sometimes it's so simple.
I turned of the hardware, started Pd, quit Pd, started Pd again and this time was able to select MIDI Settings w/o Pd crashing.
