Is GEM / PD capable of performing text / object recognition from a webcam feed? By object recognition, I mean for example being able to identify and measure a line or a square, the same as it would a letter of text. I'm assuming that all of this would be against a clear white background.

Is this possible? Has anyone worked on it before?

@LiamG I would use opencv with gem to do that. If you really want to only use Gem, then maybe measuring is doable, but identifying would be very hard in my opinion.

@EEight Does OpenCV plug into GEM / PD easily? It doesn't matter to me whether the task is performed in PD or elsewhere, so long as it can interface with PD easily.

@LiamG it is experimental and a very old mac build is available here:

But do not bother if you don't need to use only pd.
