hello

i'm trying to use the patch vbap-main.pd to define a loudspeaker array. when i load the patch vbap-main.pd i get the following error message:
[import]: can't load library in 'vbap_ext'

i know, however, that i do have the vbap library installed at this path:
/usr/lib/pd-extended/extra/vbap

i've done a bit of search on this forum and on the net but haven't been able to find a solution for this.

i'm using debian testing and pd 0.43.4-extended.

@jaskah Hmm. in 043 for windows it is called vbap.main (with a dot).
If that is not the case for you... you could try putting the path in the object (vbap.main is in vbap\examples\ in windows7)...
so you would try [examples/vbap.main] or even [vbap/examples/vbap.main]

It is always good practice anyway to put the complete path.... if you are going to send the patch to someone else!

i'm opening the patch from another directory (not examples). and as far as i understand, in pd 043, altering the path this way is not a permanent change and will have to be done each time i open the patch.

has anyone else worked with these vbap objects and can lend some insight here? i've uploaded the patch

I have uploaded your patch where I have put the path in the object name [vbap/define_loudspeakers] and then it works on my system from any folder.
You would have to change the path "vbap" to wherever you have put the files.

but when i try to open the following patch.

vbap-4ch~.pd

i get the same error message, though i don't see how i can alter the path here like you did in the other patch.

I am confused by your import vbap_set, as I would expect just import vbap, so I had changed it in the patch V.pd that I posted and I have changed it in this one. That will be wrong if you really have a folder under "extra" called "vbap_set".... and you will have to change it back.
Here is your last patch modified W.pd ..... (I hope we are advancing because I will run out of letters soon!!!!)
You had an error for [vbap_speaker_setup] because there is no such object, and you were missing the r (for receive..... from the [s vbap_speaker_setup] in the previous patch)).
Be careful with capitals as spelling errors can be the hardest problems to spot!... upper and lower case are not equivalent in Pd.... (Pd is not the same as PD)

that's just it, i don't have this folder.

yes, this is strange because this object was given in the patch (not by me), so i guess it must exist somewhere...

even when i define the speaker setup with the patch vbap-main.pd (which works), i still the error message vbap: Configure loudspeakers first! when i try to use the w.pd patch. maybe the vbap-main.pd has to be in the w.pd patch?

great, got it! now i just have to work more on my ideas on how to use this patch.
